4GB memory for Q45

I have a Lenovo M58p and it has the Intel Q45 mainboard with a Intel 4500 intergrated graphics card.

It came with 2GB of RAM, however I have now bought a Kingston 4GB RAM.

It does not work

The details for the memory are:

KVR1066D3D4R7S/4G

It is PC3 - 8500 CL7 reg

Shouldnt this be supported by the M58p?

I have installed the latest BIOS, which is supposed to have support for 4GB ram "pieces".

Memory upgrade depends on the computer manufacturer or the motherboard maker. The Intel chipset supports up to 16 GB at 1333MHz / 1066MHz / 800MHz. I recommend contacting Lenovo for memory compatibility information.

See more chipset details below:

Yes, and thats the strange part.

According to this:

I cannot see that the RAM is not beeing supported? Is it anything I've missed?

It is :

PC3-8500

1066 CL7 SDRAM

Should not this be OK?

Still haven't solved this, I have now flashed the latest Lenovo BIOS

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70892 http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70892

and it is still just "beeping" at startup.

Could the RAM stick be DOA?

I've also tried the RAM in a XFX mobo (X58i) and a G'byte X58 UD3R 2.0

Same result.
