After Windows 10 Upgrade: Display driver stopped responding and has recovered: Display driver Intel HD graphics drivers for Windows 8(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

Computer is Dell M3800 w i7 & Intel 4600, 16GRAM, 256SSD.

Computer also has nVIDIA driver that can be selectively used. I rarely use it - default is the 4600 card.

I use Dell 3000 USB docking station that uses DisplayLink for multiple monitor support. I get the error whether I'm docked or not.

No problems in Windows 7

Upgraded to Windows 10.

*** Problem: System 'freezes' then I get a notification that the display driver has stopped and then recovered. *** This happens randomly with a frequency about every hour or so.

Upgraded driver through Dell Website (along with BIOS and other drivers). Problem still exists.

Upgraded driver through Device Manager. Problem still exists.

Downloaded latest drivers from Intel website. Uninstalled the previously installed driver. Installed the Intel driver. Install warns that the driver is older than the existing drivers. I installed anyway. Problem still exists.

Upgraded driver through Device Manager. Problem still exists.

Please tell me you have a solution to this. I've looked at other forum entries for this and haven't seen a definitive solution. I'm about to revert back to Windows 7.

Thanks!

I followed the steps as mentioned by you-

1. Close or minimize all programs, so that you are on the desktop.

2. Right click on the desktop to open a dialog menu and select "Graphics properties."

3. The Intel HD Graphics Control Panel application opens.

4, Click on the icon labeled "3D."

5. At the 3D options page, at the top, you'll see "Application optimal mode"; click "disable."

6. The next item down is "Multi-sample anti-aliasing"; click "Turn off."

7. The next item down is "Conservative morphological anti-aliasing"; click the 3rd option down "Turn off."

8. At the bottom of the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel application are icons for restore defaults, save profile, cancel, and a check mark for apply; click the check mark to apply your changes.

9. A dialog box opens informing you that your changes have been applied and asking if you want to keep the changes. Click "Yes" to apply your changes. If you don't click yes within 15 seconds your changes are automatically discarded and the previous settings restored. This is a fail-safe in case your changes make the display unusable and you can't see to click yes or no.

10. Restart your computer.

The problem was gone for few days or maybe weeks, I didn't count. Just few minutes ago the computer was auto updated and 20 minutes after the restart this error showed up again. I thought that if a month passes without the error then I will reply here but alas my bad luck. Anyways I have rolled back the updates and have hidden the Intel auto download feature as mentioned here-

http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/take-back-control-driver-updates-windows-10/ http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/take-back-control-driver-updates-windows-10/

I have also turned off the option for automatically downloading manufacturer's apps and custom icons for your devices as mentioned in the above link. Is that fine?

Also why is there Urdu language written in front of Realtek Semiconductor?

Ok so no mater what we do the problems still exist with the Windows 10 upgrade and neither Intel or Microsoft seem to be doing any real search for solutions. Looking on the Microsoft web site you will see all kinds of problems. The Microsoft engineers suggest very poor suggestions to the people asking. Reload the OS, do you have a loose connection, Is your battery charged, do you have a Wi-Fi router , your not seeing Wi-Fi because your provider has dropped you, Intel must update the drivers to fix the problems, Intel did not properly test the windows 10 release.

I could go on but so far none of the suggestions do anything. Downloading a new driver seems to work for a few days then its back to the original problems.

Asking direct questions to any of the company's drives the support people underground. Maybe if we wait long enough Microsoft will come out with windows 11.

Come on Intel fix the problems once and for all.

Hi all,

Please try installing the latest video drivers version 4463 linked below:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26078/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40- Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 10 and Windows 7*/8.1* [15.40]

Version 4463 addresses the "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error message. If you are still experiencing same issue, please provide your feedback.

Allan.

Unfortunately the drivers on my computer seem to be different 10.18.15.4268 and the processor listing shown does not have the one in my PC. Intel i7 4810MQ

thanks for the info and hopefully a solution will be found.

Also using MacAfee anti virus, when I tried to download the suggested file I received a warning the file was corrupted and unsafe. Tried a second time and same thing.

the shut off the AV and switched to the Microsoft Defender version and the same thing happened.

After multiple tries, I was able to install the generic driver from Intel's website v 4463. I tried like the 100th time, everytime before it was saying that driver does not meet minimum requirements etc. Now after few restarts the version has been changed to 4360 probably by Windows Update. What should be done now?

Mcafee sucks, Intel's site is fine. If WD is also treating it as a threat, then scan your whole system.

Yes after shutting off AV including Microsoft's version it did download but then I receiver the "not compatible" and it would not load.

Seems like Intel is avoiding the fix on some of the processor versions they built. It would be nice to know why they are avoiding a complete fix on all their hardware and software versions that windows 10 can be used on. The problem with HP pushing the win10 update and ending up with constant dropping WIFI and display problems is very frustrating. A lot of people I know are moving to Apple computers and say they are not having any issues with upgrades from Apple. The newer apple computers use Intel components and it seems Intel is able to make them work without errors. Now Intel needs to do the same for the rest of us with HP, Dell, ASUS and other computers.

Also hopefully an Intel rep will pop in to the conversation.

I am not able to get what the users have suggested in that thread to do. Please help.

Also I opened this software after installing driver v 4463 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930 , but there was noting regarding Intel 520 driver in the show hide tab.

Man I too was getting that non-compatible error, I followed the following steps for like hundreds of time and after one and a half month I was able to install the generic drivers from Intel, but they were downgraded after few minutes by Windows 10.

Download this Intel graphics driver and save it in your desktop. Please use the .zip file.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26078/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-%3Fproduct%3D88355 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26078/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-?product=88355

Disable the Internet connection in your computer.

Uninstall the current driver: on the keyboard let's press WinLogo key + r, then type in devmgmt.msc, double click on Display Adapters>>Intel HD Graphics>>Driver tab>>Uninstall>>Select the check box Delete the driver software for this device>>OK, restart the computer (make sure there is no Internet connection).

Then unzip the file to a designated location or folder.

Open Device Manager:

For Windows 10: Right-mouse click on Windows Start icon

Click Yes when prompted for permission from User Account Control.

Expand the Display adapters section.

Right-click the Intel® graphics entry and select Update Driver Software.

Click Browse my computer for driver software.

Click Browse and select the directory where the driver files are located.

Click Next. Drivers are now being installed.

Reboot computer when prompted.

Also I am too getting dropping of Wi-Fi issues in my Harassment-Packard laptop, any fix for that? And SHITpple sucks, never buy that overpriced junk.

Yep apple is over priced but anything that pushed these people that works is good.

WIFI dropping is a big pain but so HP is clueless. Even on the HP site the HP engineers are missing.

Seems these company's would be all over Microsoft for the crap they made.

Edit; the display dropped before I could post this and had to reload

My dear my 4 year old Android can do things CRapple can never dream of. Check a video on YT, Samsung Galaxy SIII connectivity demo, other than this the amount of control that several apps give on the phone is just great.

Harassment-Packard sucks to the core. They are related to SHITpple in terms of customer centricity and support. I wonder why Intel and MS aren't doing anything about this?@

I feel for you brother, I got that same error few minutes back. What a shame that still no fix.

I again tried reinstalling driver v4463. I was able to install this version like this, uninstalled the installed version then after the system restarted, I got this screen hope it is normal

http://oi68.tinypic.com/bfm3jm.jpg http://oi68.tinypic.com/bfm3jm.jpg

The system auto installed the version from c drive, then I clicked on update and search drivers from the unzipped driver folder and I was able to install v4463-

But after connecting the system to the internet the version has been again changed-

What to do now?

After you were able to update to 4463, did you get the error message?

It seems like you need to disable windows updates

Hi @ allan_Intel,

Wrong information. You never want to turn off Windows Updates, period.

You want to hide offending Windows Updates. Here is the link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930

Hi becool773,

The links that you posted, can't be opened by me. When I link on them, it states: "Just select a color scheme and upload a logo."

See my post to allan_Intel, this thread.

Hi becool773,

From Outlook I was able to view your Images, but not from reading your responds using Webmail at Verizon.

The first image was showing Winsat.exe running and testing your Internet Graphics for using Aero.

The other two were Intel Graphics Properties using Device Manager.

Anyway, you posted your Version but not the Windows 10 Build, which is obtain from winver, after typing or pasting in Run and clicking OK.

Seems like we are going around in circles. I wonder why these updates cause issues that cannot be resolved.

When one works the next causes problems to come back.

Very very frustrating
