Asus Zenbook 14 2024 Intel Ultra 9 Graphics 90% CPU during gmeet

Hi there

I have recently bought a ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED 2024, with the Intel Ultra 9 and Arc graphics.

The issue I am facing is that when I join a gmeet (google meeting) and I turn my web cam on, my GPU load goes to 90 - 95%

My computer become laggy and I really do not understand why. I have updated all the drivers and it makes no difference.

I have done a Cinebench 2024 as well, and I am only getting around 300 points for multi core test, where everyone online, gets around 800 - 900.

The device works fine, could there be something wrong with the software or with Windows? I have not found anyone else with the same problem online.

Hi Jannie,

Apologies for the delay in my response.

I recommend downloading the lastest graphics drivers from your laptop manufacturer. Your device manufacturer may have altered features, incorporated customizations, or made other changes to some components for better compatibility with your system.

To help you with this, here's the link for reference:

Execute a Clean Installation During Driver Installation

  1. Click the .exe to initiate the driver installation.
  2. Agree to the Intel Software License Agreement.
  3. Click the checkbox to Execute a clean installation.
    1. A clean installation removes all old drivers and restores Intel settings to the default value
  4. Click Start to begin the install.
  5. Reboot the system if prompted.

If the above method cannot resolve the issue, try to use Display Driver Uninstaller to uninstall the graphics driver first, refer to:

How to Use the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to Uninstall an Intel® Graphics Driver

Additional information

If you do not see the Execute a clean installation checkbox during the driver installation, follow the steps below to perform a manual clean installation.

Uninstall and Install the Graphics Driver

  1. Disconnect from the internet to make sure the driver will not be automatically updated by Windows.
  2. Go back to the Intel Graphics entry in the Device Manager.
  3. Right-click Intel Graphics and click Uninstall.
  4. In the device removal dialog box, check Delete the driver software for this device and click OK.
  5. Restart the computer after the uninstallation is complete.
  6. Open the Device Manager.
  7. Expand the Display adapters section again.
  8. If no older drivers are stored in the system, the graphics controller in Device Manager should now be listed as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, Standard VGA Graphics Adapter or similar. If not, repeat steps 2 through 5.
  9. Reboot the computer when prompted.

Thanks for the reply Dean, I have arranged with our retailer, Computer Mania to run some tests on it. So far they have reinstalled Windows from a USB, and not the default OEM version.

According to the technician it looks like it solved the problem.

Waiting to hear from them again
