B580 performance drop

Hello guys, not sure what to do with my sparkle B580, there is somekind of bug. Thing is that after fresh install of drivers, first boot of the game gives me good performance, however if i exit the games and then go back to the same location and same spot, FPS drops by like 30-40% and also i see that wattage is lower aswell even though gpu usage and clock stay at 99percent and 2850mhz. I tried many things, older drivers and like multiple in the row, tried bios settings like forcing pcie gen 4 or gen 5, disabling and enabling Rebar, hags, game mode, playing with power plan pcie link settings. No matter what only way to play game with higher performance is to freshly reinstall drivers again, and enjoy first good boot of the game with higher performance. My main pc has 9800x3D, 64gb 6000mhz cl30 ram, rm1200x shift psu. Win 11 25h2. I also tried intel gpu in my e5 2696v3 xeon pc which also has 32gb of ram, and modified bios so it can support Rebar on x99 platform because without it arc gpu loosing like 90% of its performance, pc also has fresh install of win 11 25h2 and it gave exact same behaviour. I also tried fully dissabling and uninstalling msi afterburner which is used for monitoring, sometimes it could couse some performance stutter on cpu's and also didn't help. I noticed this odd behaviour when i tried to use OBS to record some gameplay performance and thing is, video ends up like 10fps even though recording settings are 60fps. I tried all possible settings recommeded for arc gpu's and no matter the quality resolution framerate video would be choppy no matter the codecs. Something is wrong with powerstates of gpu, it looks like maybe some cache issue, when after first launch of the game it can't be reseted, however it doesn't make sense because restarting pc doesn't help. I am currently lost. Tried every possible troubleshooting.

Hello Thaddeus1,

Thank you for posting in Intel community Forum.

For me to better understand and diagnose the issue further, let me ask you to provide detailed responses to the following questions. This information will help me isolate the problem and determine the most appropriate course of action moving forward.

  1. What is the title of the game that you are playing?
  2. Are you having this issue since day one?
  3. For me to review the hardware and the driver installed, please help generate the SSU logs of your system. Kindly refer to the link below for the steps:

If you have questions, please let us know. Thank you.

Hello Michael,

After further investigation and testing, it seems issue is with my favorite game Hunt showdown running cryengine. I will add photos of what kind of performance drop we are talking here, like i mentioned before, after each clean install and first launch of this game i get great performance and you can play with high fps for hours and hours, however once you turn the game off and then try to relaunch it we will get 30% performance and wattage loss like i mentioned before. And there is no fix apart from reinstalling driver each time. Considering OBS, i figured out that issue was frame pacing, if i want to record 60fps video, game itself should be locked at 60fps or atleast 120fps, if its 70-90fps or etc, frame pacing doesn't match and OBS skips frames and recorded video ends up like a slideshow, thats not problem of Arc gpu itself, its just a nature of OBS. However there is no way to showcase uncaped gaming performance of the card without capture card. I hope intel will bring back recording feature something equivalent to shadowplay or ReLive.

Going back to the performance drop. I also tried testing different cryengine game like kingdom come deliverance 2 after running fresh install and relaunching game multiple times, FPS didn't drop and stayed the same, same thing with Hogwarts legacy using unreal engine, still did the clean reinstall with DDU driver and tried to compare FPS in first launch and after second launch of the game. No changes. But in Hunt Showdown, once you played the game first time and came back to play second time, performance drops and doesn't recover. What i can add more is that after performance drop, it seems GPU, can't handle effects like bright light sources(even playing on lowest settings), for example if enemy shoots flare on the ground and you look at it, fps might drop like multiple times.(For example from 120fps to 30fps only looking at that light source). Other issues with the game are regarding ingame texture gliches if you come close enough to some objects(will add photo).

So in conclusion, there is somekind of powerstate and overall performance bug in Hunt showdown.

Sincerely Thaddeus

Hello Thaddeus1,

Thank you for the update.

For me to check this issue in our lab and simulate this, I need to gather more details.

  1. We can only support 1 issue/game per thread. For this thread, which game would you like us to focus on?
  2. Please provide screenshots of the game's Graphics settings.
  3. What is the game launcher?
  4. Did you already update the BIOS of your motherboard?
  5. Please help generate the SSU logs of your system. Here is the link again: How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*
  6. Kindly help generate at least 5 minutes of gameplay using CapFrameX. Please refer to the link below on how to use CapFrameX, just scroll down under performance issues.

Hello again,

Let's focus on game where issue is most pronounced so Hunt:showdown . So to make things easier, game is set to 2560x1440 and global settings set to Low(it sets everything to low) and upscaler is turned off.(Will add photos) and since this game is multiplayer and each time you would do quickmatch, it randomly selects map. So to make things consistent i used Shooting range mode, which always spawns at same location and there is no people in it.

Launcher is STEAM

Yes i am using Latest bios for my MSI X870E EGDE TI WIFI on my 9800X3D cpu.

I attached SSU log

Attention!!!

I recorded and Attached TWO JSON files from CapframeX  (5Minutes each) in rar file + screenshots from CapFrameX(just in case)

1. First file with higher performance is Fresh driver reinstall and First game boot.

2. Second file with lower performance are after relaunching game for second time

Hopefully its enough information

Hello Michael,

Wanted to give some feedback about same game and same issues, Newer drivers did not help either, same issue persist. Each time if i want to enjoy game i need to reinstall driver reboot pc and first launch would allow me to run game at 4k however, once again turning off and turning on game would reduce performance by 30% making it unplayable experience. Not sure why this is not addressed, its kinda funny since card is capable in Hunt showdown and actually runs great with FSR 4.0.2 INT8 version.
