What is the version number and build number of your windows 10?

Download, run, and attach the results of this utility. Then, an intel support engineer can assist you.

dicerus: We will assist you with this scenario.

Was the PC working fine before?

Did you make any recent hardware/software changes?

Do you see hear any beep sounds?

Are the LED lights on, in the motherboard or in the chassis?

We recommend to install the graphics driver provided by the manufacturer of the motherboard since that driver was customized by them to work with your specific platform.

Please, try to uninstall the current driver, reboot the PC and install driver version 24.20.100.6291, that is the latest one according to MSI's web site:

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/Z370-TOMAHAWK# down-driver&Win10%2064

If the problem persists after that, then we can try to install the Intel generic graphics driver version 25.20.100.6326:

Do you have the option to re-install Windows from scratch?

The problem seems to be related with the Windows image, so if you have the to do that, please back up all the important information and please let us know the results.

dicerus: I looked at the specifications of the monitor, based on them we can confirm that the native resolution supported is 1920x1080, please make sure that is the resolution being used.

Additionally, the problem could be related to compatibility between the monitor and the VGA port of the motherboard, in that case what we recommend is to contact ASUS directly for further suggestions on this matter or maybe for them to try to replicate this scenario:

Do you have the option to test the PC using an HDMI cable?

dicerus: Thank you for sharing those details.

The reason why it is useful to contact MSI is because, since they are the manufacturer of the motherboard, they might be able to provide further troubleshoot steps to rule out a possible hardware problem with the board or in this case with the HDMI port.

A BIOS update might be useful as well, they will be able to provide the instructions of how to do that.

Also, just to confirm if the processor is working fine, we can run the Intel® Processor Diagnostics tool, it does an overall test on the processor and if the unit passed the test then it should be working fine:

dicerus: Thank you very much for providing that information.

Yes, let me apologize for that, I meant MSI:

https://www.msi.com/support https://www.msi.com/support

The Intel® PDT is a very accurate tool, based on the results of the test the processor seems to be working fine.

At this point, if you have the option of course, in order to try further troubleshoot steps you can try to install a video card and test the PC with that component or also you can try to test your processor on a different board, since the problem seems to be related to the motherboard itself.

Now, if you purchased the motherboard less that 30 days ago, you can always contact MSI directly to verify if they can replace it for you.

I sent you a private message, please check your inbox.
