Dear Intel Support,
I have the problem that my screen is not recognized on the DVI port using any of the Intel HD family drivers (I have tried versions 2598, 2618, 2279, 2653 and 2219, both from ASUS, Gigabyte, and directly from Intel).
The screen is rather old: Formac Gallery 2012 from 2002. I suspect that it could be due to the HDCP requirement for which the screen might be too old, is that possible?
Is there any way to circumvent the problem, like modified or old drivers or an option that I could set? It's quite frustrating that I can't use my screen on my new computer just due to some copyright protection system for video playback. I especially bought the Z68 chipset because I wanted to use the built-in graphics.
System details:
- Asus P8Z68-V-LX board with i5-2500K CPU (HD3000)
- Win7 64 bit
- the Formac screen has only a built-in DVI-D cable, no VGA possible
Phenomena:
- the Formac screen works with safe-mode generic VGA drivers (low res only)
- the Formac screen works fine on an old ATI PCIe graphics card in the same system
- a different screen works fine on the DVI port of the internal HD3000 with your graphics drivers
- I can get my screen to be recognized and work perfectly on the HD3000 with Intel drivers by disabling and enabling the graphics adapter in the device manager!!! So in priciple I know that it can work, but in order to perform this 'trick', I need a second screen attached to an additional PCIe graphics card, otherwise I cannot see what I am doing.
- Would it help to connect the screen to the hdmi port via an adapter? I guess not if the problem is really connected to the HDCP requirement.
I have seen this problem in various versions in this forum, but no solution. I have tried many things without success. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Hello,
This case seems to be an isolated compatibility issue between the system and the idsplay you would like to use.
You could check by connecting that display to the HDMI port and see if the issue persists.

Hi Diego,
thank you for your idea, in fact it kind of solves the problem but creates the next. It bought an adapter so that I can connect the DVI cable of my Formac display to the HDMI port on the Asus motherboard. As you suggested, the screen is properly recognized and works with the Intel drivers! Thanks for that!!!
However, there are artifacts in the dark (gray and especially black) parts of the screen. I have attached two examples. See the blue lines/dots appearing in the black part (here is a better quality version of the picture: http://www7.pic-upload.de/18.03.12/7bu7vhdhmjc.jpg http://www7.pic-upload.de/18.03.12/7bu7vhdhmjc.jpg 😞
This is a black image scaled to fill most of the screen. The more dark parts on the screen, the worse:
This is with the latest Intel graphics driver provided by Asus for this motherboard (v 2598). I have also tried the latest driver from the Intel homepage (v 2509), and this gives a complete mess on the screen. There are about 100 times more artifacts than with the 2598 driver, and they are red instead of blue. So it seems to be driver related.
Again, with my other test screen the image is fine even with the dvi to hdmi adapter, so it is again a problem with the Formac screen.
Do you have any idea how I can fix this? I have tried to play with the "Custom Resolutions" part of the driver control panel, but I don't know what to put in the fields.
Thanks!

Hello,
There is a new driver that has been posted recently at our downloadcenter. it is available here:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Processor+graphics&ProductProduct=2nd+Generation+Intel%C2%AE+Core%E2%84%A2+Processors+with+Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics+3000/2000&ProdId=3319&LineId=3310&FamilyId=39 http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Processor+graphics&ProductProduct=2nd+Generation+Intel%C2%AE+Core%E2%84%A2+Processors+with+Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics+3000/2000&ProdId=3319&LineId=3310&FamilyId=39
You can try with this driver and see if this issue persists. Also check with your display manufacturer to see if they have any further troubleshooting for this behavior

The type of port and what is supports, depends on the system manufacturer itself, so you should check with your computer or motherboard manufacturer for this information.
