Can't Install the Latest Graphics Driver Update

I have an Intel 4600 on Windows 10, and I wanted to install the latest driver update to try to fix some issues with sudden lag in World of Warcraft and Star Wars: The Old Republic. I went to this link https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26079/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen- Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 10 [15.40][4th Gen] to get the latest driver. When I try to install it, it takes a while, and it pulls up my file explorer. I don't know what to do from there to download the driver.

Usually it opens explorer when downloading the ZIP version.

Download the EXE version instead.

When I tried downloading it with the top button, (which I assume is the EXE version,) it said "This Driver being installed is not validated for this computer."

I found those instructions, and I clicked on this link. http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005488.html How to Get ZIP Version of Intel® Graphics Driver

I'm stuck on step 14, "Select the folder to save a copy of the ZiP file." I don't know how to select a folder.

You don't don't need to select a folder.

Windows or in this case your browser store by default downloads in a folder named "Downloads".

In Explorer you find that on the left side under fast access.

But then what about the next step, "Click save to begin the copy." I can't find the button.

Thank you, Hellen, but I don't see why I need to download that. All I want is to update my driver with the ZIP version. I don't need a scan

Hi Masterofcards,

The scan is to collect more information about your system, because if it is a prebuilt system I would recommend you to install the graphics driver provide by the manufacturer, instead of the generic.

Please follow these steps in order to install the ZIP the generic driver version:

1-Download the zip file of the driver from download center, unzip and keep file in the desktop.

2-Turn Internet connection off

3-Go to device manager>Display Adapter, right click Intel HD graphics and select uninstall driver (check delete box)

4-Restart the computer

5-Go to device manager> Display Adapter, right click over Microsoft generic driver select Update driver, browse search.

Regards,

Hellen.

It is a prebuilt system. I want to install the generic version because I am having lagging issues with games, and I also often get an error message saying "This application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware." I was told on the Windows 10 forums that I needed to update my drivers. Anyway, thank you, and I'll try these steps!

I tried to install it, but I don't know how to "unzip." What button does that?

In Explorer click right mouse button when pointer is over the ZIP file, then select "extract all" from menu popping up.
