Hi all,
I recently purchased HP Mini PC with Intel Core i5-1235U processor which comes with Intel Iris Xe graphics. I connected to my Samsung TV which support HDR 10+. I can't activate Use HDR on windows settings even it shows that Use HDR supported (it turns black briefly and back without activating HDR). Drivers are all updated to last version.
Can anyone help me with this issue? I attached screenshot

If your computer is an HP Pro Mini 260 G9 device, then unfortunately you have to note that the HDMI port is only version 1.4b according to the specifications. This does not support HDR.
But you can use the DisplayPort output with a converter cable. This even enables 4K @ 120 Hz HDR. I would recommend this product:
Product | Connection | Chip Type | Current Firmware |
|
DisplayPort 1.4a > HDMI 2.1 FRL | Synaptics VMM7100 | 7.02.130 |
I recently tested it with an Intel Arc A380 up to 8K @ 60 Hz YCbCr 4:2:0 10 bpc HDR (40 Gbps).
Please note that the cable may come with older firmware than mentioned above. If it doesn't work properly, the latest version can be found in the attachment.
Follow these steps to update the VMM7100 chip that is built in the cable:
- Plug the cable to the computer and the TV.
- Right click "VmmDPTool.exe" and choose "Run as administrator".
- If a dialog box appears stating the Product ID did not match, click Yes to proceed with the firmware update.
- Continue this way:
- Wait for the firmware update process to finish.
Disconnect and reconnect the cable from the computer.
This firmware does NOT apply to USB-C/Thunderbolt cables ! Do not flash such cables !

Thanks for your detailed reply. Exactly this is my mini pc. I didn’t notice the HDMI port specs. I will check for that cable and let you know.

Unfortunately I couldn’t find it in my country. I ordered it from Amazon UK. Maybe it needs a week or 10 days to receive it.

Finally, I got the cable today and I just plugged it and everything worked OK. I didn't install the firmware mentioned in your post. Should I install it or is there no need?

If everything works as expected, then there is no need to change the firmware.
Leave it as is and enjoy your device!
