Can't find "Mantain aspect ratio" option

Hi. My problem is that I want to play some games that don't support widescreen, in my laptop, which is a samsung with nvidia and intel (so is optimus enabled). It has a core i7 3615, so it hast a intel hd 4000. Now, in my old laptop, I remember there was an option called "mantain aspect ratio", which is not there any more. This is what I see in the panel properties:

The box called scaling now has only two option, center image and scaled full screen, but none of them is what I want. So... why the option to fill the screen maintaining the aspect ratio is gone, and how can I make it return?

I was using the driver provided by samsung, but I updated to the official driver (expecting this to solve the problem) but is exactly the same

Maybe you have to set your Desktop resolution to a non-native resolution in order to make the options visible.

Actually, that screenshot was taken in a non-native resolution. My native resolution is 1920x1080, and that picture was taken when the resolution was at 1280x1024. If the screen is in my native resolution, then I only see one option, that is Maintain Display Scaling.

I bet this has to do with that optimus crap, which is nice and all, but there should be a way disable it and manually turn off one graphic card, or like my friend laptop, were the system use the integrated graphic when is in battery mode, and the radeon when is plugged.

HI, I've installed the last version yesterday. In my graphic properties says version 9.17.10.2932 (though the version I've downloaded was 15.28 something. Are you trying in an optimus laptop??

I don't have Optimus. I have maintain aspect ratio option with this driver.

Is there anybody from intel that can give me an answer? at leas I would like to hear if other users with intel+nvidia+optimus have this same issue.

Hello Claudio,

In this case, you should only be using the drivers that are provided specifically by your computer manufacturer as this may affect the way of Optimus will operate in your system and our generic drivers will not operate properly in your system.

I suggest that you check with your computer manufacturer for further information on how to enable this in your system, possible through a registry edit process or a patch from their customized drivers.

Hello. I have such problem too. I bought notebook asus x201 with the only intel hd 4000 videochip and I too don't have maintain aspect ratio. I'm using windows 7 32bit, and I tried general intel drivers and ones from windows update - nohing changed. I have only two variants - fit the screen and disable scaling. Can this be a driver fault?

PS I can't install manufacturer driver, asus site gives only drivers for x64 windows...

Pps:tried to create new topic, but for unknown reason I failed.

Is this using an external video display or the integrated display in that Asus* notebook? If you are using an external one, please provide details on the model being used and what type of port/cable is being used to connect it to the system

I tried both. Mainly I use internal screen of notebook, but tried also with external monitor(Samsung 225mw, connected through d-sub). Both displays don't have possibility to enable aspect ratio scaling. I don't think it is problem of displays, it can be fault of graphics driver or bios(possibly graphics bios, if they are independent). If you checked graphics and everything is normal, then it seems to be bios problem. Asus is keeping scilence about this question...

By the way, despite fresh updated bios, vbios version is quite old, gpu-z gives following information:

Very strange for me is that vbios date is 12/23/2011, what, at my opinion, cannot be. Asus support still not answered my question about problem

So, problem is still there and no one seems to have answers for it Asus keeps scilence, my technical inquiries after two days receive status "Close!" and I don't receive answer...

People from Intel, can you say what is different in upper given Lenovo driver for XP from your generic? That driver is the only one, which give possibility to enable aspect ratio scaling. Looked for register information: "maintain aspect ratio" is set in profile in record "PrimaryDisplayAspectOption" if it is equal to "4". Tried to edit profile in 7 - received message, that this mode is not supported... So any clue/tweak/mod for driver?

As a matter of fact this may blocked at Video BIOS level so even a registry update may not enable the option. So basically, the ability to adjust the scaling is left to what the system manufacturer enables for your system

This is honestly the most annoying bug in the software. Any time you create a custom resolution at 4:3, you have NO OPTION to maintain aspect ratio. It's complete crap. The driver always decides to stretch full screen.

Please make this the # 1 thing to fix. Make it so we can MAINTAIN ASPECT RATIO for custom resolutions.

I'm purposely bumping all aspect ratio questions so you programmers know how serious of an issue this is.

Also fix the limited 60hz problem for monitors that can go to 120hz. That's another huge bug.
