I recently bought a asrock arc a770 16gb GPU after many years of gaming on a radeon 380x, so a big step up (or so I thought).
After installing drivers etcetera it was time to test CS2, which with the old graphics card performed around 180 fps on low settings. I enter and the menus are smoother than ever and after going into a match my hopes were high, but as soon as I started walking around for a bit and shooting I noticed that everytime something happened on the map, walking, shooting etcetera, my frames dropped from 250 to 20, and the game was completely unplayable.
Didn´t bother me at first since I was thinking that the new GPU needs some optimizing. I started with reinstalling the game, then reinstalling windows, then I got desperate and tried older drivers, I tried using different DP ports, updated BIOS and made different BIOS settings, I verified CS2 files and I did everything I could find on the internet for my problems and NONE of it worked the slightest.
Im getting extremely frustrated right now and I can't think of anything more to do, neither can Google or Chatgpt... What tf am I missing or am I the only one in the entire world with an A770 who can´t play CS2?
Specs:
- Intel I5 9600k CPU (not bottleneck, checked)
- Asrock A770 16gb GPU
- 32gb ddr4 RAM
- 750w power supply
- MSI z390 motherboard
Im thankful for all suggestions!

Hi sandstrommax,
Thank you for posting in the community. I have a few questions related to your concern about the performance issue after changing your GPU to the Arc A770. Please answer the following:
- Did you enable Resizable BAR in your BIOS?
- Did you use the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to fully uninstall your previous graphics driver before installing the Intel graphics driver?
- What is your current graphics driver version?
- Are you using the Vulkan API to play CS2?
- Can you provide a screenshot of your game settings?
Additionally, to better understand your entire system information, please use the System Support Utility (SSU). This will generate a text file that compiles all your system information. You can follow this link for instructions and send the text file here: Help Guide for the Intel® System Support Utility

Hi Dhanniel and sandstrommax,
I do encounter similar issues while playing CS2. Also, my game freezes then crashes randomly. This happened after the last GPU Driver update, before that everything worked just fine. Another thing that I noticed is that usually I play the game at a lower resolution (1280x960), but if I try to start the game at that resolution it starts as a black screen, then crashes, so my only solution is to play the native resolution. I tried a lot of things, but nothing seems to work.
Is there any information that I could provide in order to solve this? Also, could you please explain briefly how can I get the information from my system?
PC specs:
- AMD Ryzen 5 5700x
- A770 16gb GPU
- 32gb ddr4 RAM
Thanks!
