Hi,
When following the instructions on:
https://dgpu-docs.intel.com/driver/client/overview.html
I have 2 problems.
Problem 1 - When executing the following command:
sudo apt-get install -y libze-intel-gpu1 libze1 intel-metrics-discovery intel-opencl-icd clinfo intel-gsc
I get the following response:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package clinfo
i.e. clinfo can't be found.
Problem 2 - If I remove clinfo, and then execute the apt install with the following list:
sudo apt-get install -y libze-intel-gpu1 libze1 intel-metrics-discovery intel-opencl-icd intel-gsc
I get the following response:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libigdfcl2 : Depends: libz3-4 (>= 4.7.1) but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
So there appears to be a dependency issue.
Note to perhaps save some time:
On another thread, I found a request to provide further info on the system using the instructions found on:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000008563/ethernet-products.html
However, the link to the Intel® System Support Utility for Linux* operating system just redirects to the download center.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hello Eugaia,
Thank you for posting in Intel community Forum.
For me to better understand and diagnose the issue further, let me ask you to provide detailed responses to the following questions. This information will help me isolate the problem and determine the most appropriate course of action moving forward.
- What is the model of your Graphics controller?
- What is the model of your processor?
- What is the brand and model of your system?
- Is this the first time that you are trying to install Ubuntu on this system?
If you have questions, please let us know. Thank you.
Best regards,
Michael L.

Hi Michael,
Here are the responses to the questions you asked:
1. What is the model of your Graphics controller?
I get this from Settings > System > System Details > Graphics: Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics (RPL-P).
Is that what you wanted to know?
2. What is the model of your processor?
13th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-1360P × 16
3. What is the brand and model of your system?
HP EliteBook 860 16 inch G10 Notebook PC
4. Is this the first time that you are trying to install Ubuntu on this system?
No, I've have Ubuntu installed on here for about 9 months (since I bought it second hand), and it's currently on version 24.04.3. It is, however, the first time I've tried to install Intel's drivers on it, the purpose of which was to see if installing them could resolve some issues I'm having with having a second screen via HDMI.
The issues I'm facing currently appear to be with the packages and dependencies.
Thanks,
Marcus.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately the link you provided me has no downloads shown for Ubuntu. While download links were shown for the Windows and Processor Diagnostic Tool, no download link appeared for the Ubuntu drivers.
I've attached screenshots to show you want I mean.
Thanks,
Marcus.

Hello Eugaia,
Thank you for the update.
I checked the link and the link for Ubuntu driver is 3rd on the list:
You may also use this direct link instead:
Intel® Arc™ Graphics Driver - Ubuntu*
Let me also share this link as additional information which is also in the driver link above:
Installing Client GPUs — Intel® software for general purpose GPU capabilities documentation
If you have questions, please let us know. Thank you.

Hi Mike,
My comments in my previous reply pertain to the page: Intel® Arc™ Graphics Driver - Ubuntu*
On that page, there are the following:
- Introduction
- Detailed Description
- Documentation
- Disclaimers
but no download link for the drivers. i.e. The page is listed as having drivers to download, but there aren't any links to drivers. They presumably need to be added to the website.
The other pages have download links on the page (in blue boxes), but not that page. I've tested in Brave and Firefox, and they're the same (though the formatting of the page is off in Firefox).
Note: The other link you sent me (Installing Client GPUs) is the same link that I originally started this thread with to say there's an issue with it as it doesn't work - at least for Ubuntu 24.04. I'll try the instructions on that page for 22.04 when I have a free moment.
Thanks,
Marcus.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for replying, but as I've said, when you follow the link, there is no driver to download. Please visit the page itself (Intel® Arc™ Graphics Driver - Ubuntu*) to confirm this for yourself. There is nothing to download on that page.
I won't be able to download the driver until there's actually a link to a driver on the Intel website to download, or if someone could provide me with the direct link to the file download itself.
Thanks,
Marcus.

Hi again Mike,
Sorry, I think you might have meant to wait until I tried the instructions for 22.04. I did that, and it didn't work.
I've attached a screenshot of the errors. It's basically the same issue as with the 24.04.
Thanks,
Marcus.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for taking the time to look into this. I believe I've found the solution - which you may wish to add somewhere on the Intel website to assist others.
The problem lay with the Software Update settings. It was not accessing 3rd-party libraries. I've included a screenshot of the options I have selected that make it work as expected. These may be the minimum or there may be a subset of these that will also work.
Without these selected, the above-mentioned issues arrive. With these selected, all repositories install correctly.
My suggestion would be to put this in a clear box before step 1 on this page: https://dgpu-docs.intel.com/driver/client/overview.html.
Thanks again for your time in looking into this.
Best regards,
Marcus.
