Hello,
Yesterday I made the mistake of updating my Windows 7 Dell XPS 14 with Intel HD Graphics 4000 and NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M to the Intel 9.17.10.2932 driver. I was hoping this would solve some periodic DWM crashes and Chrome hangs.
Since then, it has been non-stop crashes. Chrome behaves erratically. Every time my laptop's screen saver kicks on, the driver crashes, leaving my machine in the dark.
I'm not making this up! Just look at the reliability report here:
This is crazy bad!
Any advice? What should I do?

Hello,
The problem of your non-stop crashes is indeed the Intel graphics driver that you downloaded from our Intel website since our Intel generic graphics drivers from the Intel website do not support using both Intel HD Graphics 4000 and NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M.
I recommend you contact DELL since the drivers supplied by the laptop computer manufacturer must be used. You can contact them at the following URL:

Thank you.
Can I suggest that your driver update recommendation tool detect situations like this and not offer to update the driver?

Michael,
I had my IT department reimage my machine. And then I went through Windows Update to install all the latest patches. Guess what it installed: THIS SAME DRIVER.
Could you please pull this driver from Windows Update?
