Hi Viktor_,
I suggest you to update the graphics driver to the latest version 4474.
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26099/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-?product=89174
Let me know how it works.

Hi Viktor_,
I am sorry for the inconvenience. Could you please send me pictures (screenshots) with the current settings of our graphics control panel. I would like to replicate the issue.
Did you test your games with MSI Afterburner and Rivatunner off? Let me know the name and version of each game.

Mike C

Hey Mike,
# 1: I can't send screenshots right now, but all of the settings are default, nothing's changed after the driver was installed. Clean Win 10 x 64 Pro, clean Intel driver install, clean game install from steam. Everything is at it's default.
# 2: Yes, I did, but I don't really see what's the point here. If I turn off the overlay of course it won't be dark because it's not there anymore. Any DX9 game does this. Couple of examples:
Counter-Strike Global Offensive
Rocket League
Call of Duty 4
Mirror's Edge
I have these games purchased on steam, all of their latest version produce this bug.
Thank you for your effort, let me know if I can help in anything else.
Best,
Viktor

Hi Viktor_,
We are working in your issue. MSI Afterburner is primarily used to overclock GPUs, therefore we cannot guarantee functionality if the GPU is indeed overclocked. Could you please perform a test using only Rivatuner and let us know the results?
Also, if it is possible make a test using similar apps such as Fraps.

Hi Mike,
I don't overclock my system. I use Afterburner because it's pretty much the only tool to check temperatures, fps, frametime, RAM, CPU, GPU usage real-time, in-game. Afterburner feeds this data from the sensors to Rivatuner. Without MSI AB, Rivatuner has nothing to display, these two can only be tested together.
I will test with Fraps in the next couple of days. Let me know if there is anything I can help with.
Best regards,
Viktor

Hi Viktor_,
The graphics specialist is handling your case. The graphics already support DirectX12, so we are verifying the compatibility with older games.

I searched for others with this issue and only found this thread, which is exactly the problem I am having. I am using the latest drivers as of 3/8/2017. Still getting black overlay with DX9 and below. Only DX10 and above show it properly.

Hello KuraiShidosha,
Thank you for the information.
The last required report from the post shared before is the DxDiag, as you can see in the image shared before:
DispDiag Instructions:
- Click on the "Start Menu" -> Type "cmd" -> Then a command shell window will open
- In the command shell, type "dispdiag -out %homepath%\Desktop\DispDiag-Intel-Issue.dat" -> The command shell will output something similar to "Dump File: C:\Users\[username]\DispDiag-# -# -# -# .dat"
- Locate the .dat file on your desktop and include DispDiag-Intel-Issue.dat in the Intel Community Forum

Pass this along to your engineers please.

Font is drawn properly when using Vector 2D rendering, but turns pitch black when using Vector 3D. All other GPU manufacturers render correctly on either setting. Something is wrong with the Intel driver.
As a temporary workaround, Vector 2D gets the job done but is worse performance than 3D.
