Does the GMA X4500HD not support dual monitors?

I've got an HP Pavillion (HP Pavilion p6240f Refurbished Desktop PC - Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR3, 750GB HDD, DVDRW, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) with the GMA X4500HD inside it. I've got a Dell 196fp monitor plugged into the VGA socket and it works fine. I have another of the same monitor plugged into the adjacent DVI-D slot, but it isn't being detected by the computer (i.e. the monitor is on, but screen is black).

Any ideas as to why this is and how I can make this dual monitor setup work? Or does this graphics card just not support dual monitors?
