Driver hangs when changing settings

I installed the driver for the Intel Arc B580 video card. When I change the GPU scaling setting, the monitor turns off and on and the driver freezes; I can't change anything. I have to close the driver from Task Manager. I'm using the latest version of Windows 10, the BIOS is up to date and I've deleted and reinstalled the video card driver with DDU. I even tried the previous version, but I still have the same problem.

I am having the same issue.  I actually have tried the exact same troubleshooting steps that you mentioned; without success.  I updated the bios before inserting the new card.  I've tried different driver versions and a full DDU reinstall.

I noticed the problem when trying to use an HDMI to DVI adapter cable for an old monitor.  It seemed like a signal was being recieved at the monitor, but it only showed a black screen.  I looked to see if there were display settings I could change from within the Intel Graphics Software, but found that changing Scaling Mode or Scaling Method crashes the application without applying the change.

(Side note;  I think I know what's causing the problem with the old montor and believe its unrelated to changing display settings)

I hope they fix it as soon as possible, it's a really annoying problem. I want to downscale because I have a bottleneck, but Intel said “Hey you stop there” :))

Hi xxsalsamxx,

Thank you for posting in the communities!

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with your system. In order to help you more effectively and figure out the best solution, could you kindly supply the information below:

  • May I know what application you're using to adjust the scaling settings? is it Intel Graphics Command Center or Intel Arc Control software?
  • Where you able to adjust the scaling settings before? if yes, what are the changes on the system before you encounter the issue?

Kindly run this on your system so that I can also gauge the following peripherals and the driver versions that you have:

Intel® System Support Utility for Windows*

Once finished downloading, open the tool, click on scan (leave the default items checked), click next, then save the system information to a .txt file. Please provide us the .txt file.

Best regards,
