Greetings, I have a Dell Inspiron laptop and am experiencing a very annoying issue that I am having a very hard time trying to resolve. The laptop is a 2020 15-7000 series 7586 2 in 1. I have upgraded the RAM, storage drives, LAN card as far as I know without issues, only including that in case. I am running Windows 11 pro 64bit updated via auto update. I also have Dell update software, just their standard support assistant that's part of the Dell pc environment. I also have Intel driver assistant software which I don't have set to auto because I think there may have been conflicts between it and the Dell driver updates in the past and I was told in another forum that using the Dell driver updates should be instead of the Intel updates.
The issue that is plaguing my system is with the sizing of the content inside windows. I notice it most, and it's the biggest pain with browser windows, but it also happens within certain app windows. The default settings are generally 100% in the browsers and the same in apps if there is a setting for them. The default setting in my Windows display settings for Windows is at the recommended setting of 125% and I haven't noticed anything in Windows explorer that interferes with the use or functionality so I don't mess with that.
Anyway the issue with the browsers and certain apps is that the content will be larger than it should be almost all the time and it happens with any browser that I use most of the time no matter what sites I'm visiting. The app issue is the same but it doesn't happen with all my apps all the time as with the browsers. I haven't recorded exactly which apps do and don't but the one I know that it happens with is Amazon Shopping. With the browsers, so long as I can get my pointer to it, I have to go to the settings and turn the percentage setting down to around 70 % before I can use the window with full functionality, otherwise I can't reach certain areas of the page out around the edges and I'm not able to reach things such as certain input boxes on forms or the close buttons on pop ups, which is one of the more irritating things and what has motivated me to go on a mission to figure this out.
It has been going on for quite some time so I am not able to recall any specific event that could have started it but it hasn't been an issue since I got this laptop so it's something that happened along the way at some point. I have posted the issue in Microsoft and other Windows support sites and same with Dell and they are all pointing me to graphics driver issues. As I stated before I use the Dell driver update software as default but I do also have Intel driver update software which I have run manually however did not solve the issue. The GPU is shared Intel UHD Graphics 620 .
So I am posting here to see if anyone has any idea as to what could be going on here and possibly point me in the direction of a possible fix for this most bothersome issue.
