Dual Monitor issue

Hello,

While installing the Intel® Graphics Driver 31.0.101.4146, the driver breaks my dual-screen setup. The main screen starts to change sizes, and the mouse blinks into and out of existence while returning to the center of the monitor. This continues after restarting the computer but ends when the second monitor is disconnected from the computer. I have reverted to the previous 31.0.101.4091 driver since it has worked and does not break my setup.

Hello Harry5

Thank you for letting us know. In this case, the issue might be caused by the VGA to DP adapter, it is good that the issue does not happen on a direct connection. Would you like to mark this thread as resolved, or would you rather that we monitor the thread until you are able to test the new monitor you will get? Please let us know.

Best Regards,

Hello Harry5

Thank you for posting on the Intel Communities. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues after updating the graphics driver to the latest version. Please let's try the following:

Do a clean installation of the driver version 30.0.101.4146 using Display Driver Uninstaller and only one monitor. After the driver has been installed the system rebooted, reconnect the second monitor, and check if the issue persists.

If the issue continues to happen, please share with us another short video showing the issue after the above steps have been completed and using the system as usual.

Best Regards,

Hello Hugo,

Thank you for getting back to me. I have followed your steps, removed all old display drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller, rebooted, did a clean installation of the driver version 30.0.101.4146, and rebooted again.

When the second screen is plugged in, the issue persists or will not detect the second display.

I have attached two more videos; the Second_Screen_Plugged_In.mp4 has the issue. The Second_Screen_Plugged_at_mid.mp4 has the second display plugged in at the 3-second mark, but it was not detected.

Best Regards,

Harry

Hello,
I also have a similar problem on an ASUS VivoBook Pro 16 K6602ZC laptop. After installing the drivers, the monitor turns off and won't turn on anymore. I then have to connect the laptop via HDMI to another monitor to revert to my old Version V31.0.101.1999 drivers. I followed the steps you described, deleted the old drivers using the tool and did a clean install on 31.0.101.4146 but again it didn't work and the monitor won't turn on even after several restarts of the laptop.

Hello Harry5

Thank you for providing this information and the results of the troubleshooting. Before we research this issue further, I would also like to confirm the following information:

  • What type of connection are you using? Are you using any type of video adapter or dongles? Have you tried different cables?
  • What is the resolution that each monitor is set to?

Best Regards,

Hello Hugo,

The main monitor uses a standard DisplayPort cable, but the second monitor is VGA only, so I am using a VGA to DisplayPort adapter.

I do not have different cables for the second monitor, but I do not believe the cables are the problem since the display works fine on the previous driver.

The resolutions of the monitors are the standard 2560 x 1440, and the second is 1352 x 768.

Thank You,

Harry

Hello Harry5

Thank you for your patience. We tried to replicate this issue, however, it is not happening from our side. Please let's try the following:

  1. There is a newer driver update version 30.0.101.4148, please let's install this version and check if the same issue happens.
  2. Please test a different monitor that allows for a direct HDMI connection without adapters, since we cannot guarantee full compatibility with these devices.

Let us know the outcome of these steps.

Best regards,

Hello Hugo,

1. I followed the previous steps and installed driver 30.0.101.4148. The problem persisted.

2. I got an old tv with an HDMI port and tested driver 31.0.101.4146 with the tv as a second monitor. There was no issue, and it worked fine. I am getting a new monitor to replace the HP V194 since that will most likely solve the issue.

Thank you for the help

Sincerely,

Harry
