Elden Ring Nightreign White Screen Crash

In the last few days I bought Elden Ring Nightreign to play on my device (I3 1115g4 UHD Graphics G4, 8GB RAM) and I came across a problem, where when starting the game a white screen appears for 1s and closes immediately afterwards, I did some research and discovered that this error is happening with several generations of Intel, more specifically from 11 to 13, which use UHD Graphics up to Intel Iris Xe, at first I imagined that it could be a limitation of the video card (Which would be a bit strange because I have 350 hours of Elden Ring and its DLC and they run perfectly well) then I realized that if I disabled my Intel driver (I'm already using the most recent driver possible) and used the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter the game would open normally, of course with some fps drops and graphic bugs, but it opens perfectly, without any crash on startup, which leads me to believe that the problem is only with the Intel driver. Please solve this, there are a lot of people who want to play this game and are experiencing this problem. If it were a limitation of the card, such as a DirectX or a Shadermodel, it would be completely understandable, but the cards have full capacity to run the game, it is solely and exclusively the fault of your Driver.

I also saw here in support some mods arguing that the cards do not meet the minimum requirements, which is actually true, they are much weaker than those required in Nightreign (GTX 1060 3GB) but... It is the same requirement as Elden Ring and its DLC, the 2 games ask for the same video card in their requirements and guess what? Elden Ring runs perfectly on these cards, in fact Nightreign is even slightly lighter, seeing tests on the internet in various setups, mainly on AMD integrated cards, where from the normal Elden Ring to Nightreign, there were slight performance gains. So I reiterate again, please Intel, fix this, it's simply frustrating, and it makes us lose the little trust we still have in you.

Hello RafaelBombinha,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I apologize for any confusion caused by the previous information; please disregard it. To assist you further, I understand that Elden Ring was functioning properly with your current setup before. To help investigate the issue, I have a few questions:

  1. What is the full model of your laptop?
  2. Do you recall which graphics driver version allowed Elden Ring to work correctly?
  3. When updating the driver, did you select the "Execute Clean Installation" option?
  4. Have you attempted to revert to the driver version that previously worked with Elden Ring?
  5. Which gaming platform did you use to download the game?

Furthermore, to gain a comprehensive understanding of your system, please use the System Support Utility (SSU). This tool will generate a text file compiling all your system information. You can follow the instructions at this link and send the text file here: Help Guide for the Intel® System Support Utility

Additionally, to further analyze the error message, I would like you to recreate the issue and generate a dump file. Please follow the instructions provided in this link to do so.

Best regards,

Dhanniel M.

Hello, thank you very much for answering!

Q1. Samsung Book NP550XDA-KV3BR.

Q2. The "driver" that made the game open was the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. After disabling the Intel Driver, the game opens.

Q3. Yes! I usually clean up the previous drivers, I don't think that's the problem.

Q4. Well, no Intel driver actually makes the game open. In fact, what makes the game open is precisely disabling them, so no.

Q5. Steam.

Q6. I won't be able to get the Dump File right now, sorry, I'm busy with college work, but the SSU will be right below.

Hello RafaelBombinha,

No worries I will be waiting for the dump file so it can help me to further investigate it. Additionally, since as you mentioned on your previous post and response. The issue only occur when you install the driver from Intel, as such to truly isolated the issue have you tried using your OEM driver for testing? If not could you try performing DDU and install the OEM driver?

Hello, sorry for the delay in responding

Q1. Yes, I tried using the OEM Driver, the game even opens, but it runs with a completely red screen, like, really red lol, unplayable, and with a lot of graphic problems and yes, I use DDU, I always use it to be safe.

I haven't been able to do the dumps yet because my notebook is at my house, and I'm not there at the moment. But, I was looking here on support, and I saw that the user @Rudra2  did a debug of the error, and got a lot of information about the problem, I don't understand the subject, but I'll leave it here below in case it can help!
Thanks for your patience.

Hello RafaelBombinha,

Thank you for sharing this information with me and for confirming that you've already tried the OEM driver. Please note that OEM drivers are provided by your laptop manufacturer and are customized to suit your specific laptop system.

Since you've mentioned that using the OEM driver results in the same graphics rendering issue, I wanted to share a thread I encountered that discusses a similar problem. Please refer to this link: https://community.intel.com/t5/Graphics/Elden-Ring-Nightreign-on-Intel-Iris-Xe-Graphics/td-p/1694454/page/2

According to the thread, it was confirmed that the Intel Iris Xe does not meet the minimum requirements set by the game developer. While you may have successfully run previous versions of the game or similar titles, this version appears to utilize newer rendering features that are unsupported or unstable on this hardware.

Therefore, it is recommended to report this issue directly to the game developers, as they are best equipped to determine whether support or a workaround is possible for this matter.
