Entire system lag/sluggish caused by YouTube and high 3D utilization

Hello, I have a new workstation and I decided to go the Intel B570 route.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7900X
Memory: 64(2x32) GB DDR5 6000Mhz CL30
Motherboard: X870E AORUS PRO ICE
GPU: 2x Acer Arc B570 10GB Nitro OC

I have 5 monitors connected - 1x 3440x1440 and 4x 2550*1440

My main GPU is connected to the top 16x slot and runs in x16 mode. To this GPU I have 3 monitors connected, the 3440x1440 and 2x 2550x1440

My second GPU is connected to the middle PCIe 4.0 x4 Slot - and thus to this I only have 2 2550x1440 monitors connected.

Whenever I put video on any of these two monitors, for example a simple youtube video (Nothing major,  for example this rolling stoneds video which is just a still; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1uIM2nPocE

Makes the GPU 3D utilization spike to 80%+ and causes the entire system to lag, even on monitors not even connected to that GPU.

As soon as I drag the browser window to one of the 3 monitors connected to the x16 GPU, this works wonders.

I know PCIE4 x4 isn't making the GPU utilize all it's performance, but this is a simple youtube video and these monitors are used to just watch video or have things at a glance in my day2day work.

For reference I used to have a system with 2 AMD RX6600 in the same configuration, and that worked perfectly fine.

I've downloaded the latest drivers to date (32.0.101.6972).

I am running Windows 11 - 24H2 (10.0.26100)

Here's Intel Driver & Support Screenshot of both GPUs:

Attached is the full system report.

This issue does _NOT_ happen in Linux (Tried with Kubuntu 25.04)

Hi guemi,

Thank you for reaching out and providing detailed information about the GPU utilization and system lag issue you're experiencing with your Intel B570 setup.

To help us better diagnose the issue, could you please provide the models of the monitors you have connected to your system? Additionally, I recommend performing a clean installation of the latest graphics driver, version 32.0.101.6972, to ensure optimal performance. Hey,

My monitors are:

1x 3440x1440 - ASUS ROG PG348Q Running at 100 hz
4x 2560x1440 - Lenovo L27Q-30 Running at 75 hz

All displays are connected with display port 1.4 compatible cables.

This is a fresh install of Windows 11 done the day before posting, and when I downloaded the driver I did tick "Perform clean install" option.

I'm absolutely open to a phone call, how do I provide my contact details? 🙂

Regards, Emil

For troubleshooting sake I plugged in one of the monitors to HDMI, but it's the same behaviour.

Here's when I play a youtube video on one of the other 4 monitors connected to the primary GPU:

And as soon as I move that window to the monitor running on GPU 1 the GPU that's not even running that monitors spikes, and the entire system begins to lag, notice that GPU 1 that _actually_ has that monitor connected is barely doing anything;

It however works fine when I have 4 monitors connected to GPU0 and connect monitor 5 to the motherboard and use onboard graphics, but the whole reason for buying this dual GPU system was because I will soon be driving 8 monitors with a single system so that's not an acceptable solution.

Just booted into safe mode, ran DDU and then reinstalled latest driver. Same behaviour.

Even just resizing the regular notepad app window (While still only using one GPU) causes 3D to spike to 100% and the entire system boggs down;

FYI for anyone coming here with the same problem - This resulted in a Intel Support case, where they gathered some logs and video of the problem - and then.... radio silence for 2 months.

So don't expect this to be solved. I bought AMD GPUs instead who work perfectly fine.

So if you have the need for many screens, you're probably off buying something else unfortunately.
