Extended display not there for dual monitors

Hello,

I just bought a new monitor so I could have an extended display. The problem is the option is not there. I have tired changing some settings in the Intel Graphic and Media Control Panel under multiple displays but even there I dont see an option for the second monitor.

Any idea on how to solve this?

With the external monitor connected, open the Intel® HD Graphics Control Panel and click on Display.

Then click on the Display drop down menu to select Multiple Displays.

Choose the desired option (Extended Display)
