I'd pretty much given up on getting any good news about cedarview compatibility with Windows 8, but as 8.1 has just come out I thought I'd check again. I've just come across this on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58X4iDDRn7w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58X4iDDRn7w
It seems to show Metro working on a GMA 3600 with the 1073 Windows 7 driver. As stated in the description for that video, all the person did was execute the following, which disables UAC:
cmd.exe /c %windir%\System32\reg.exe ADD HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v EnableLUA /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /fCan anyone currently running Windows 8 or 8.1 confirm this? The above is easily reversible if it doesn't work and/or you require UAC, just substitute the 0 for a 1.

I may have jumped the gun and misunderstood what that guy was claiming unfortunately, does disabling UAC just prevent Metro apps from starting to begin with?

Hi meolive,
At this point, I am afraid to say that the GMA 3600 series is still not supported under win 8 or win 8.1.

Hi Xaman,
At this point Intel® currently has no plans for releasing Windows 8* graphics drivers for GMA 3600. If they may be available, be sure that this will be announced.
For more information on Microsoft* Windows* 8 driver availability, please refer to this article:

This needs to be Fixed!!!
It sort of works and then crashes I can see the desktop on Windows 10 before the BSOD
Intel got away with not fixing this for 8 or 8.1 and now with everybody migrating from 7 this cant be ignored.

Hi mPisano,
Not sure I'm understanding your concern.
Are you saying the subject 'GMA 3600 (N2600/N2800) working in Windows 8.1 with UAC off?', needs to be fixed for Win10?
These products were made for Win7. Due to their configurations that were designed specifically to support up to Win7, we can't guarantee performance or features on later OS, therefore we do not support migrating to any later OS. If you do it is 'use at your own risk' and reported concerns will not be addressed. Again, this is because it is designed to only be up to Win7 compatible.
For the best performance and experience on Win10, we recommend you upgrade your equipment to 5th or better yet 6th generation hardware when it's available to you. Thanks.
