Graphic Driver Downgrading After Driver Installation Failed

I have a laptop with Intel Core Ultra 5125H with integrated Intel Arc Graphics.

After every installation failure, instead of rolling back to the previous driver, it always downgrades my driver to gfx_win_101.5542.

I always execute a clean installation. May I know what is going on?

Hello Hapi

Thank you for raising this concern via the Intel Community.

To better understand the issue, I would like to gather some additional information so I can provide the appropriate steps to help isolate the problem.

  • Can you describe or provide a screenshot of the installation failure error?
  • Does automatic update enabled in your windows update?
    • This might automatically install the generic/OEM version of the driver after performing clean installation.
  • Did you tried performing clean installation using DDU?
    • This tool completely removes all traces of the previous graphics driver and prevent remnants of the old driver causing issue.

Additionally, to better understand your system's configuration, we kindly request to provide the System Support Utility Logs

Here are the steps on How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*

• Download and launch SSU.exe.

• Check all the box except for "Networking".

• Click "Scan."

• When the scanning is complete, click "Next."

• Click "Save."

Please send the saved file to us.

Your response will help us further investigate the issue and provide the most suitable troubleshooting steps.
