Hi there is this weird issue I noticed ever since Updating to Driver 32.101.6557 and .6632
VMware Workstation has this weird Graphics bug but downgrading to Driver .6460 doesn't have this issue.

Hi, Omegashel.
Thank you for posting in our Community. I see the graphical corruption in VMware Workstation in the image you shared after updating to drivers 32.101.6557 and .6632, while confirming that downgrading to .6460 resolves the problem.
To help us investigate further, could you provide the following details?
- Which version of VMware Workstation are you using?
- Are you using 3D acceleration inside VMware? If so, does disabling it change the behavior?
I’d like to investigate further by verifying details such as your Windows version, exact driver versions, and any system errors. Utilizing the Intel SSU tool will enable us to collect detailed information about your system setup, which could aid in identifying the underlying cause of this issue. Additionally, if you’ve conducted any other tests, please share the details so we can avoid repeating troubleshooting steps.
Have a nice day!
Best regards,
Von M.

Hello, Omegashel.
It seems a bit unusual that disabling 3D acceleration resolves the issue, especially considering the specific versions of the GPU drivers. It’s possible that the issue is related to compatibility between the latest GPU drivers and VMware Workstation, or a specific interaction with Windows 11 24H2. In the meantime, while I don't have a definitive answer at the moment, I will need to conduct further research on this issue and will update this thread with a response as soon as I have more information.
Best regards,
Von M.

Hello, Omegashel.
Thank you for your patience as I work to resolve your issue. To assist with further troubleshooting, I would like to provide some important information. I see that you are using an Inspiron 7506 2-in-1 device. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) drivers are specifically designed by the manufacturer (in this case, Dell) to ensure optimal compatibility and performance with your device's hardware. OEM drivers are handpicked and include customized features and solutions to platform-specific needs. Installing this Intel generic graphics driver will overwrite your handpicked OEM graphics driver. Users can check for matching OEM driver versions at OEM websites. For more information on how the installation of this driver may impact your OEM customizations, see this article. For optimal performance and compatibility, I recommend using the latest Dell OEM driver, version 32.0.101.6078. You can download the driver and other updates for your Inspiron 7506 2-in-1 from the official Dell website here: Dell Drivers
In line with the VMware Workstation Version 17.6.2, could you please confirm if you downloaded VMware Workstation Version 17.6.2 directly from the Broadcom website, as mentioned in the release notes here: VMware Workstation 17.6.2 Release Notes as I am planning to isolate and replicate the issue on my side, so knowing if the download was done directly from Broadcom will help me move forward.
Best regards,
Von M.

It's not possible to download VMware directly from Broadcom's Site as it has been this way ever since Broadcom Bought VMware
I got my download from Techspot.com https://www.techspot.com/downloads/189-vmware-workstation-for-windows.html
And I don't use Dell's GPU Driver as its 8 Drivers Behind .6460

Hello, Omegashel.
I see your point. Actually, it is possible to download VMware directly from Broadcom's site. You need to log in to the Broadcom Support Portal to access the downloads. Interestingly, you found VMware on Techspot. Sometimes, third-party sites like that can host software, but it's always safer to download directly from the official source, even if it's not as straightforward now.
In the meantime, I'll do some additional research on this and will update this thread once I have more details

Hello, Omegashel.
Thank you for your patience. I am currently investigating the issue you’ve reported. If I identify a bug or any problem that requires fixing on my end, please be assured that it will be addressed directly with the official developers, rather than through third-party websites. Since I cannot verify whether the site you mentioned provides the correct version of the app, I recommend consulting the software developer for further guidance.
Additionally, I can attempt to replicate the issue in our lab. However, for accuracy, I will perform the replication using the official VMware site rather than the third-party site you referenced. I will keep you updated on our progress and provide more details as I move forward with my investigation.
Thank you for your understanding.
Best regards,
Von M.

Hello, Omegashel.
To ensure that I can provide the best possible support, I recommend downloading the app only from official sources. For assistance with VMware-related issues, I suggest referring to VMware's official support channels or downloading the software directly from their official website. This will ensure you have the correct version and the most up-to-date support options.

Facing the same issue here, and for that reason I did not create another thread just to report the same bug. Something in latest graphics drivers is causing graphical corruption in VMware Workstation when 3D acceleration is enabled. This wasn't happening on version .6458, which was the version installed before updating to .6647. Here are two examples comparing how virtual machines look when 3D acceleration is enabled and when it's not (also how it looked with driver .6458 and 3D acceleration enabled):
Like OP, this is happening on a laptop (Samsung) with identical CPU/GPU. I have latest build of VMware Workstation Pro installed, so updating from 17.6.2 does not fix the issue like @Omegashel stated in the previous reply.
Core i5-1135G7/Iris Xe Graphics G7.
VMware Workstation Pro 17.6.3
Windows 11 Home Single Language 24H2.
Here's my SSU info:

Hello, Omegashel.
I’ll need to conduct additional research on this issue and will post an update in this thread once I have more information about this matter.
@ksio89 , I empathize with your situation and the issue you are facing. However, I kindly request that you create a new thread for your case. This will allow us to focus on your specific problem and provide you with better assistance.

@VonM_Intel There's no specific problem, as the issue I reported is the same OP did. Creating another thread to report the same bug is redundant, specially when the hardware of the device affected is identical. I just posted in this one to confirm that the issue is not an isolated case and to provide info which can also help identify the cause of this bug.

Hello, Omegashel.
I appreciate your patience in this matter. I've tested VMware Workstation version 17.6.2 with hardware acceleration enabled using the official software download and did not encounter the reported issue.
To help resolve this, please follow these steps:
- Perform a clean installation of the latest graphics driver (32.0.101.6647 WHQL Certified or newer).
- Download VMware Workstation from the official source: Broadcom Support – VMware Workstation Pro
Below are my test results:
Please let me know the result if the issue persists.
Best regards,
Von M.

Hello, Omegashel.
I see. Have you already performed a clean installation of the latest graphics driver (32.0.101.6647 WHQL Certified or newer)? Also, could you clarify what you meant by "try Windows because your VM doesn't support 3D Acceleration"? Are you saying that you've already downloaded VMware Workstation from the official source, Broadcom Support – VMware Workstation Pro but the issue still happens?

I have I used DDU and Installed .6651 and I tested without and with all the Driver Extensions VMware still has the issue.
What I mean by Try windows is in VMware because your Ubuntu VM says it doesn't support 3D Acceleration meaning the issue won't happen because 3D isn't being Used. I got VMware from broadcom same thing
- Its 100% the GPU Drivers (I even seen people on Reddit with Roblox having the same issue before.)
- ever Since Driver 32.0.101.6557 and newer this weird graphical issue has been present
- Driver 32.0.101.6460 and older don't have this issue

Hello, Omegashel.
Thank you for sharing your detailed findings. I appreciate the effort you've put into testing different drivers and configurations. Based on your observations, it seems the issue started with driver version 32.0.101.6557 and persists in newer versions, while 32.0.101.6460 and older do not exhibit the problem. Since the issue persists and the issue appears to be specific to VMware Workstation, I recommend reaching out to Broadcom Support for further assistance, as they can provide more specialized troubleshooting for VMware-related concerns. My internal testing did not replicate the problem when using the official VMware software with hardware acceleration enabled, suggesting that the issue may not be directly related to Intel GPU drivers.
I will close this inquiry now. If you need further assistance, please submit a new question as this thread will no longer be monitored.
Best regards,
Von M.
