Hi,
I recently upgraded to 8.1 and installed the new HD 4000 drivers.
I have been running 2560x1440 via 55Hz, via HDMI, for a couple of months. Now I can't create the custom resolution in custommodeapp.exe. It gives me the "custom resolution exceeds maximum bandwidth error."
I also noticed that the option to use interlaced instead of progressive is gone in custommodeapp.exe.
Please help. I spent 650 on my dream monitor and it won't work after the update.
Thank you

Please, does anyone know why I can't run my monitor anymore after the new driver update?
Even when I try older drivers, I still get the message "resolution exceeds bandwidth capacity."
It was working fine until the new driver. Is there an old version of custommodeapp.exe that I can use, or something?
Thanks

I think the driver might be mistaking HDMI for DVI.. because it says (Digital) which means DVI according the .inf

Hi bunnyfluffy,
In fact the graphics controller you are using can support up to 2560x1600 resolutions; however, you can get when using Display Port Only. The maximum resolution that you can get with HDMI is 1900x1200. You can check this information at the following link:
http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/3rd-gen-hd-graphics-quick-reference-guide http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/3rd-gen-hd-graphics-quick-reference-guide
The latest driver we have for Windows 8.1 can be downloaded at the following link:

Kevin, Thanks, but that's not true.
I have been running at 2560x1440p, 55hz for a couple months.
Also, the link you posted shows that HD4000 uses HDMI 1.4, which is fully capable. I am getting the error "custom resolution exceeds maximum bandwidth," but that's just not true as there is plenty of bandwidth.
Please advise. Thank you.

Hello floyd0r,
Thanks for the information.
Based on the graphics report you posted, it seems that the monitor Supported Mode is 1280 by 800 (60 Hz) only so a different resolution than that one is not available due to a monitor limitation.

So i think it isn't a problem related to the monitor.

Bunnyfluffy,
Just to confirm all the information, this is what is happening to you:
- You were using an older driver and with that driver the resolution 2560 by 1440 (60 Hz) was working fine?
- After the driver update the resolution is not available anymore?
- have tested a different HDMI cable or monitor that support this configuration?
Checking the driver you have it seems it is a different than the 3345. Please download the latest driver provided before and let us know the result.

Correct.
1. I was able to run 2560x1440 @ 60hz HDMI output on the HD4000 prior to upgrading to 8.1
2. After the update to 8.1, I can no longer select the resolution in custommodeapp.exe. I also have noticed that other features have been disabled in custommodeapp (like color depth and interlaced vs progressive)
3. I have tested different cables and I am sure it's not the cable.
Regarding drivers, I have tried all drivers, including 3345. None work with windows 8.1. (They did work with 8.1 preview)

Hi bunnyfluffy,
Based on the graphics report information, the built in display can support only 1920 by 1080 (60 Hz). I would recommend you contacting the computer manufacture to confirm with them if there may be a limitation in your system when using win 8.1 retail versions.
