HD 620 HDMI Problem

Hello community,

I've recently bought 2 Lenovo laptops with the following spec.

  • THINKPAD® E470 20H2S00500 (Intel® Core™ i3-7100U (2.40 GHz), 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM, Intel® HD 620)
  • THINKPAD® E470 20H2S00700 (Intel® Core™ i7-7500U (2.70 - 3.50 GHz), 256GB SSD, 16GB RAM, Intel® HD 620 + NVIDIA® GeForce™ 940MX 2GB) Both of them are running Win10 Professional.

When trying to connect either one of them to my TV via HDMI, the TV recognizes the laptop but not vice versa. I am able to choose the screen selection modes (Duplicate, Extend,...) but nothing happens upon selection. When I try the "recognize monitor" function in system controls, no other monitor then the laptop screen is found. All drivers are updated to the newest ones available including BIOS updates. It seems as if the HDMI-port is somehow inactive.

Do you know how the fix this?

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Rob

Hi everyone

My first and only one post I hope, posted in another similar thread by mistake ( )...

Same HDMI problem here

Notebook Samsung 3500EM, I5 7200U, windows 10 education, intel HD620 graphics, and Nvidia geforce 920MX and TV LG 47LW579S-ZD, smart 3D. This LG TV worked like a charm with Toshiba Satellite L750, windows 7, in all display modes. Allmost one month I am installing and uninstalling graphic drivers, changing HDMI inputs and so on. Same laptop is working with Denver 55" UHD TV, with Sony UHD, but not working with Samsung 46"... Another info, I have picture on HDMI to VGA interface cable.

I will attach some screen shots when HDMI connected and when not. Sound is going all time trough HDMI connection, no picture at all. Last screen shot (19) was made with HDMI connected, display set as extended, which is shown on screen shot, but not on TV screen.

Help, please.

Hi all,

I also have problems with HDMI - I eventually solved it by downgrading Intel HD Graphics 620 driver.

For me the TV (Panasonic) was recognized by laptop but no picture or sound (there was a lingering image mage from previous TV channel and what looked like a pixel stream on the topmost row). Made sure I had latest drivers etc etc. The Intel driver was already latest "7/24/2017 22.20.16.4749", no Windows updates pending.

I have a Lenovo Ideapad 310-15IKB, "80TV". It also features a GEFORCE 920MX graphics card, not sure if relevant.

It stopped working sometime in December but I noticed it yesterday. It is the Windows 10 1709 update that installed the Intel driver "7/24/2017 22.20.16.4749" that gave me problems.

After Lenovo support could not help me any more expect that I should try a factory reset I did that - and it worked again, but it stopped working again once update to Win10 1709 was complete 8 h later. I then tried to downgrad Intel driver to version "3/9/2017 21.20.16.4627" which was the version at factory reset. (I used device manager update driver but look for drivers already present on my computer and selected older version there).

Then HDMI started working directly!

I have now recovered my system image backup and downgraded the driver to older version, and HDMI start working in this configuration as well. For some reason I found only even older version of driver, "11/11/2106 21.20.16.4550".

Whenever there will be a push update of driver version I assume it will stop working again unless fixed.

Hello RobMac,

Thank you for your patience. The recommendation from the next level of support is actually the same as given by other Intel® Communities peers. Our suggestion is to update the graphics driver to the version released a few days ago. Please follow these steps to update the graphics driver:
  1. Download the graphics driver ZIP file: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/27412/a08/win64_15.60.2.4901.zip
  2. Unzip the file to a designated location or folder.
  3. Right-click Windows Start icon and open Device Manager.
  4. Click Yes when prompted for permission from User Account Control.
  5. Expand the Display adapters section.
  6. Right-click the Intel® graphics entry and select Update Driver Software.
  7. Click "Browse my computer for driver software".
  8. Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
  9. Click "Have Disk".
  10. Click "Browse".
  11. Access the designated location or folder, and access a folder called "Graphics".
  12. Select the file called "igdlh64" or "igdlh".
  13. Click Open, then click OK, and finally click Next. Drivers are now being installed.
  14. Reboot your computer.

Issue solved for me too with driver version 23.20.16.4901 (packaged in the odd named ? win64_15.60.2.4901 zip)

HDMI worked immediately, sound required reboot. Reboot took 5 minutes so I thought something gone bad.

Hello there,

I'm happy to hear, that most of you were able to fix their problems by updating the driver.

As I've read your posts, I was hoping to have the same luck - but right now after installing the newest driver and several reboots, the HDMI problem is still present.

I'm quite frustrated right now.

Regards

Rob

Hello RobMac,

I am very sorry to see that the issue still persists even with the driver version x.4901. As before, I will proceed to do further research so we can try to find a solution for you.

Please be aware that this research might take some time, so I will ask you as well to be patient with me while I further check this situation.

Regards,

This finally worked for me. After a windows update push on January 9th, my TV would no longer work with my laptop. Mind you, I'd been using this configuration for years and all of a sudden it stopped. Microsoft was of no help. HP was of no help. They don't seem to be aware what the issue is, but I see some people posting with this problem. Deleting the driver and installing this latest version worked like a charm. Thank you for persisting Intel. This was getting frustrating. HP Pavilion Laptop with 620 graphics chip set.

Hello,

I'm having an Acer Swift 3 SF314-52 with Intel 620 that as the same HDMI problem.

OS: Windows 10 Pro v1709

I upgraded my bios, tried several cables and TVs.

I also unistalled the graphic driver and installed the new x.4901 driver without any luck.

The only way to get it working is using a 'High Speed HDMI cable'. This tells me that the graphic driver gets or sends wrong information to the TV.

This is my business laptop and traveling to hold meetings and presentations all the time. Its an absolute mess for me! Everything that can resolve this is highly appreciated.

It's definitly detecting the montior, but whatever resolution, Hz rate is set I only see a black screen. Example below:

Also, this is the drivers I have installed:

Hello,

I'm using a HP Envy notebook, same issue as described in the thread. The x.4901 driver didn't help. I'll also appreciate any help here.

Thanks, Nir

Hi everyone,

I am still doing more research about, specially after several users are now reporting the same issue with the Intel® HD Graphics 620 and the driver version 15.60.2.4901, which is the latest driver release from Intel® for this controller.

RPG089, parism, mzambianchi, and veselinv, please try uninstalling and deleting the current graphics driver in your system, and then installing the latest driver released from Intel® to confirm if the issue persists.

Please follow the steps below to uninstall the graphics driver:
  1. On the keyboard, press WinLogo key + R, then type in devmgmt.msc
  2. Expand the Display Adapters section.
  3. Find the Intel® Graphics Driver. The driver can also be called the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver (Intel® GMA Driver).
  4. Right-click the Intel Graphics Driver and select Uninstall.
  5. Select the check box Delete the driver software for this device.
  6. Reboot the computer after the uninstall process has finished.
  7. If possible, please repeat this process until you no longer see the Intel® Graphics Driver in the Device Manager.
And let me know if the issue is resolved afterwards.

RobMac, cronty, and nirgano1, I will need to gather some specific information from your systems, which will be very helpful in my research. With the driver version 15.60.2.4901 still installed (if it is not, please follow the steps above), and with the non-working HDMI® display connected, please gather the DxDiag* report and the Intel® HD Graphics Control Panel report.

Please follow these steps to get the DxDiag* report:
  1. In the keyboard, press WinLogo key + R.
  2. In the Run box please type dxdiag and hit Enter.
  3. Click on Save All Information (save it in your desktop).
  4. Attach the report to this thread.
Please follow the instructions below to get the Intel® HD Graphics Control Panel report:
  1. Right click on the Desktop, and click on Graphics Properties.
  2. Click Options and Support, and then click Information Center.
  3. Click on Save (save it in your desktop).
  4. Attach the report to this thread.
Thank you for the information and for your time reporting this issue,

Hi Xavier,

Thanks a lot for your support!

I reset windows 10 in the meantime and can confirm after a fresh install the HDMI works now. I cant tell further why it didnt work earlier, but at least for me after a full reset and installing the latest 4901 driver the problem is solved

Wishes,

Thomas

I just bought a DELL Inspiron 5570 laptop with an Inel(R) HD Graphics 620 display adapter. Connected it to my Samsung UE40D6530WKXXU smart TV using an HDMI cable and got the message "Mode Not Supported" The resolution is not supported on this TV. Please change the resolution.

Not impressed as both my sons and daughters DELLS with AMD's inside drive it perfectly.

Downloaded this new driver and installed it, a slight improvement, I did not get the "Mode Not Supported" message anymore, I got the blue desktop of the laptop, but none of the windows that were open, how does that work..!! Sound appeared to be OK.

Taking the laptop back tomorrow and getting my money back, I'll get one with an AMD inside..!!

Disappointed in Intel.

Intel - All is forgiven.

After I got the desktop on the TV, I eventually used the Windows key + P and toggled to Duplicate and everything started working fine.

Thank you Xavier.

Hello Mudiver,

Maybe I'm getting your answer wrong, but if you're suggesting to reset the TV, I don't think thats a solution. I tried different TVs / Monitors and Cables and none of the combinations worked. Using a laptop that doesn't have a HD620 everythink works like a charm.

Rob

Hello community,

I encounter the same problem with my new Dell Inspiron. I found out that when my Dell is using the Intel Graphics Driver 21.20.16.4627 everything is perfect. As soon as my Dell is updating to the new driver 22.20.16.4799 I cannot use the external monitor. Unable to detect etc etc. I am obliged, every time it updates by itself to the new (bad) driver, to re-install the old driver to have it working for some hours or 1-2 days.

There must be something wrong with the new driver 22.20.16.4799.

I even dried to stop the automatic driver update, but, although I have ticked the field "not drivers updates" it keeps doing the update!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I contacted Dell and they told me that it is a problem that they cannot help, because it is a Intel drivers problem.

Please Help me!!!!

Thanks in advance for your help
