Hi sa_as,

Thank you for posting in our Community. I’m sorry to hear about the difficulties you've been experiencing with installing and uninstalling Intel® Graphics software and drivers.

To assist you further, I’d like to clarify a few things and offer guidance:

  • Regarding the Intel Graphics Software uninstallation issue. It seems the uninstaller is referencing a temporary installation path that no longer exists (C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\RarSFX0\...), which may be causing the uninstall loop you're encountering. Could you please confirm the following:
    • Are you seeing the Intel Graphics Command Center or Intel Graphics Control Panel still installed under “Apps & Features” in Windows?
    • Have you tried using the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant Uninstaller Tool or third-party uninstaller tools to completely remove all Intel graphics-related components?
    • Are you using an administrator account on your system during installation/uninstallation?
  • Regarding the graphics driver reverting to an Older Version. When drivers revert to older versions, this is often due to Windows Update automatically reinstalling a previous driver.
    • Have you disabled automatic driver updates in Windows?
    • After manually installing the latest driver, does it immediately revert after a reboot, or after some time?

Additionally, I'd like to delve deeper and verify specifics like the graphics models, precise driver versions, and any system errors. Utilizing the Intel SSU tool will enable me to collect detailed information about your system setup, which could aid in identifying the underlying cause of this issue.

Have a nice day!

Best regards,

Hello sa_as,

Thank you for getting back to us and for providing the SSU report. I understand how frustrating it must be to deal with both the Intel Graphics Software visibility issue and the driver reverting problem. I truly appreciate your patience and the detailed information you’ve shared. It’s very helpful.

  • Regarding the Intel Graphics Software (Intel® Graphics Command Center or Control Panel) uninstallation or visibility issue, have you tried to perform a Clean Installation of Intel Graphics Software? If not, you may follow these steps:
  • Follow these steps to cleanly uninstall and reinstall the Intel Graphics Software and drivers:

    1. Uninstall Intel Graphics Software:
      a. Open Settings (Win + I) and navigate to Apps.
      b. Locate Intel Graphics Software and select Uninstall.
      c. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
    2. Perform a Clean Installation of the Latest Drivers:
      a. Download the latest Intel Graphics driver (32.0.101.6458 WHQL or 32.0.101.6257 WHQL) from the Intel Download Center.
      b. Run the installer and select Custom Installation.
      c. Check and perform a Clean Installation option if available.
      d. Follow the prompts to complete the installation and restart the system.

For detailed instructions, follow the steps in Intel’s official guide: Clean Installation of Intel® Graphics Drivers in Windows*.

  • In the meantime, for the issue where the graphics driver keeps reverting to an older version, you may follow these steps:
  • Just to share with you, we have our support link where you can find all of the troubleshooting steps that we’re going to perform. To make it easier for you, here’s our support link:

Windows* Update Rolling Back Graphics Driver to a Previous Version

I see you've already disabled automatic driver updates. Thank you for taking that step. If the rollback happens again despite this, feel free to let us know right away so we can continue investigating. Once again, I truly understand how inconvenient these issues are, especially having to constantly update the driver or see multiple Intel applications, and we’re committed to helping you get this resolved.

Regarding the Intel graphics driver reverting to the previous version,

I updated the driver from Device Manager to the latest version about two days ago (I used to download by clicking on the downloaded driver (I was doing clean install)) and It hasn't reverted to the previous driver since I updated. I may have solved the problem this way :'D but i will inform if it happens again. By the way, even though I enabled Windows driver updates, it did not revert to the old driver.

pictures of device manager. i downloaded latest driver version and I installed it by pressing the blue button.

Regarding the Intel Graphics Software,

I've done a clean install of everything Intel-related I've downloaded and installed, but even then, there are still two Intel Graphics Software applications. There's also the issue that I can delete the new Intel Graphics Software, but as I mentioned, the old Intel Graphics Software requires a file that doesn't exist. Furthermore, even if the new Intel Graphics Software is deleted and the old Intel Graphics Software remains, it doesn't show up when I search for it in pc. It's not there, but it is.

Hello sa_as,

Thank you for the detailed update. Based on your message, it seems that updating the Intel graphics driver via Device Manager may have resolved the issue with the driver reverting to a previous version. I’m glad to hear that it hasn’t reverted since then. Please do keep us posted if the issue recurs.

Regarding the Intel Graphics Software concern, I understand that despite performing a clean installation, two instances of the Intel Graphics Software still appear, and the older one cannot be fully removed due to a missing file. Additionally, it's not visible via system search even though it appears installed.

In the meantime, I will need to conduct a more in-depth review on my end to better understand this behavior. This will help ensure that the guidance we provide is accurate and effective. I’ll keep you updated as soon as I have more information to share

Hello sa_as,

Thank you for your continued cooperation and patience in this matter. To further troubleshoot the issue you're encountering, I’d like to kindly ask you to follow the steps below:

  • Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to completely remove any remnants of previous graphics drivers and associated applications. You can refer to this Intel article for detailed guidance: [How to Use the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to Uninstall an Intel® Graphics Driver]
  • After running DDU and restarting your system, please verify if the Intel Graphics Software (IGS) is still present. If IGS is completely removed, proceed to the next step.

  • If IGS is completely uninstalled, proceed to install the latest graphics driver version 32.0.101.6972.
  • During the installation of graphics driver version 32.0.101.6972, ensure that the "Execute a clean installation" checkbox is not selected. Simply click "Start" to begin the installation.

Should you encounter any issues or need assistance performing these steps, please let me know so I can proceed with the next steps.

Please let me know once you’ve completed the steps or if you would prefer assisted support.

As you suggested, I deleted the Intel driver and applications using DDU and installed the new version, but I did a clean install. Since everything related to Intel was deleted anyway, a clean install wouldn't be a problem, right?

There's only one Intel Graphics Software application right now. But if I update by clicking the exe instead of using Device Manager in the next update, will there still be two Intel Graphics Software applications?

Hello sa_as,

Thank you for the update, and I appreciate you following the suggested steps.

You're absolutely right. Since you performed a clean uninstall using DDU, doing a clean install of the Intel driver afterward is perfectly fine. That approach ensures no residual files interfere with the new installation, so you're on the right track.

Regarding your question about the Intel Graphics Software application: If you install future updates using the .exe installer provided by Intel, it should not result in multiple instances of the Intel Graphics Software. The installer is designed to either overwrite or repair the existing Intel Graphics Software (IGS), not install it twice. In contrast, updating through Device Manager may occasionally cause partial updates or leave remnants of previous components, which can sometimes lead to issues. If you ever notice two instances of the Intel Graphics Software installed, it could potentially be caused by a Windows OS-related glitch or a bug. In such cases, we recommend manually updating or installing the Intel Graphics driver (in our official Intel Website Graphics driver downloads) using the official .exe package to ensure a clean and accurate setup.

If you experience anything unusual or have any additional concerns after the next update, please feel free to let us know, we’re always here to help. In the meantime, since the issue seems to be resolved, may I kindly confirm if we can proceed with closing this thread, or is there anything else you’d like us to assist you with?

First of all, thank you for everything, but

Is there a chance this thread can stay open until the next driver update? Because if a similar issue occurs next time, it would be better for me to continue under the same thread, keeping up to date with our previous comments.
