How can I extend the volume on my RAID 1 set up on Intel SE7230NH1-E Board?

I have a SE7230NH1-E entry level server board with an LSI RAID controller on it running Windows 2003 Server. I followed the drive upgrade procedure in the post at /message/17085# 17085 http://communities.intel.com/message/17085# 17085 . I upgraded from 2x 500GB to 2x 1TB drives and swapped 1 drive at a time and let it rebuild. I cannot see the extra drive room anywhere; only the original volume size; and I have tried the diskpart.exe tool using Microsoft's instructions. Here is what I get:

DISKPART> extend

The volume you have selected may not be extended.

Please select another volume and try again.

Does anyone have any other ideas for how I can use the rest of the space on this drive? Anyone had luck with 3rd party tools like partition magic or is this safe with this RAID controller? Is this just a limitation of the LSI controller and I have to reinstall everything?

Thanks.
