How do I remove vertical striping?

How do I remove vertical striping on my monitor? My graphics card is the imbedded UHD graphics service on the i7 10710U processor. I can only seem to remove the vertical striping by setting the brightness control below 50%, which makes the screen essentially useable.

Hello Biff,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

To better assist you I would like to gather some additional information from you:

  • When did this behavior start? Was it working fine before?
  • What tool are you using to change the display settings?
  • Have you tried different monitors and cables?

Please run the following tool and attach the reports generated.

Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU)

Intel® SSU Download link

1.Open the application and click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel® SSU will take you to the "Summary View".

2.Click on the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View"

3. To save your scan, click on "Next", then "Save".

Hello Biff,

I would like to confirm some information that you just provided:

  • When a second monitor is connected via HDMI that behavior is not occurring?
  • Does it affect only the embedded screen of your laptop?
  • What graphics driver was installed prior to the current version?
  • Please confirm the model of the laptop, is it the VAIO* SX14?

I would appreciate it if you could provide some pictures/video of the screen when that occurs.

Hello Biff,

When talking about OEM devices such as a laptop, it is always recommended the use the customized drivers provided by the laptop vendor.

This is because the computer manufacturer may have altered the features, incorporated customizations, or made other changes.

As the behavior is not occurring when a second monitor is connected via HDMI or any other port, we can determine that this could be a problem with the embedded screen of your laptop or that the driver provided by the computer manufacturer is required.

I would recommend contacting VAIO* in order to get the appropriate drivers, please make sure that the BIOS is up to date as well.

Before making any changes, please check with them.

Please check the following article for more information.
