How to add a custom refresh rate to an existing resolution for external monitor ?

Hello.

I'm trying to figure out how to add a custom refresh rate to an existing resolution.

To be more specific I want to add 144Hz refresh rate to 1920x1080 resolution supported by my external monitor, using an Intel Arc A380 card.

The monitor provides officially up to 1080@60Hz but with AMD and nVidia cards I could add  custom refresh rate at 144Hz for 1920x1080 resolution to enable this "hidden" refresh rate which works like a charm with my monitor.

Intel Arc control has no options to add custom refresh rates and using Intel Graphics Command Center (Beta) from Microsoft Store, can add only custom resolution but not custom refresh rates to an existing resolution.

You should add this option to Intel Arc control or Intel Graphics Control Center (Beta), unless I miss something.

I see no tool from Intel to add custom refresh rates to an existing resolution.

Is it possible ?

System:

Windows 11 23H2 - Intel Arc A380 - v5445 driver

Unfortunately, this is not an Intel tool.

Yes, I'll give it a try, It's been decades (!) since the last time I used it because this functionality of custom resolutions/ refresh rates should be implemented inside GPU drivers, like AMD and nVidia did.

I think Intel should put it as a priority for the next drivers in the near future.

Adding a custom refresh rate to an existing resolution can indeed enhance your experience, especially for gaming and other high-performance tasks. However, it seems that with your current setup, using an Intel Arc A380 card, there isn't an option available within the Intel Arc control or Intel Graphics Command Center (Beta) to add custom refresh rates to existing resolutions.

While other graphics cards like AMD and NVIDIA allow for this customization, it appears to be a missing feature on Intel's end.

I agree to @MUC you might consider download and run the Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) , Add a new detailed resolution with the desired refresh rate and Restart your driver or system to apply the changes.

Hope it helps,

Max
