Hello martinhain:

Thank you very much for joining the Graphics community.

Thank you also for providing that link, we really appreciate that.

To answer your question, the Intel® Iris Plus Graphics 650 should be able to support Autocad 2017.

One of the processors that works with the Intel® Iris Plus Graphics 650 controller is the Intel® i7-7567U, on the link below you will be able to see the specifications of it and confirm the resolutions supported depending on the video port being used:

On the following link you will be able to see the resolutions supported by the Intel® Kaby Lake Mobile family, please check page 33 in order to confirm all the resolutions showing on the link you gave us above:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/core/7th-gen-core-family-mobile-u-y-processor-lines-datasheet-vol-1.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/core/7th-gen-core-family-mobile-u-y-processor-lines-datasheet-vol-1.html

Additionally on the next link, you will the Direct X version supported by that graphics controller, the Intel® Iris Plus Graphics 650 controller is not showing in there, but it belongs to the 7th generation processors:

If by any chance you are interested in checking the resolutions supported by an specific processor, please provide the model of it and we will be more than glad to provide that information to you.

And also, if you have the option to get in contact with the manufacturer of Autocad 2017 to confirm this information that will be really good, they might have a list of compatible processor for this software.

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards

Hello Alberto,

I would be grateful if you help me with a similar question I have.

I am looking to purchase DELL XPS 13 and I am between i7 (6th gen) with iris 540 graphics and 2.2MHz processor and i7 (7th gen) with hd 620 graphics and 3.5MHz processor.

I use autocad only with 2D graphics to zoom and read the drawing and also to count distances by utilizing polylines.

I don't know if the iris graphics and even more hd graphics are suitable to work on autocad 2016 and autocad 2017. I know that iris is a bit better than hd graphics but still I have no idea if it's suitable for autocad work.

Am I going to face any problem with those laptops? The flow is smooth when I work on autocad? Which one of those ones you advise me that is better? The worse hd620 with better proseccor or the better iris 540 with significantly slower processor?

Thank you very much in advance!

Hello Leonidas_Kikareas:

Based on the link provided above about the system requirement for Autocad 2017, the laptop should be able to support it with no problems with either of those Intel® graphics controllers, so it should run just fine.

Now, it is always better to check that information with the manufacturer of Autocad 2017 and with the manufacturer of the laptops.

It is hard to tell which is better, it will depend on the features the laptop has, remember that for the laptop to work fine it does not depend only of the processor itself, it will also depend on the memory RAM, hard drive, motherboard among some other components; that is why it is always the best option to check directly with the manufacturer of them.

I hope that information was useful for you.

Any questions, please let me know.

Regards

Alberto
