Huge Memory Leak + System Lockup with Vulkan on Dolphin Emulator

EDIT: For some reason Dolphin now just crashes instead of causing a memory leak. Read other posts for more info.

With the latest dev build (5.0-5077) of the Dolphin Emulator (and older versions as well), when using the Vulkan Backend, memory usage spikes up till there is basically none left all within 3 seconds of launching the game in Dolphin and then locks up the system. I can't move the mouse, CTRL + Alt + Delete does nothing and even the time freezes at the time of the lockup. I'm assuming that it's probably hitting the page file, until that fills up then the system really is screwed. I have to hold the power button till it turns off then turn it back on. I left it on for around 8 minutes after it crashed, but then I ran out of patience since it was still frozen. Also other people are having this problem on the dolphin forums and they say that it's probably a driver issue. Here's a link to one from a person with a Skylake CPU. https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-massive-memory-leak-while-using-vulkan-with-intel-hd-520 https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-massive-memory-leak-while-using-vulkan-with-intel-hd-520

Here is a screenshot with task manager open with the memory usage.

Sorry for the quality, I wasn't exactly able to take a screenshot for obvious reasons.\

Hello Jacky161,

I understand there is a huge memory leak when using Dolphin Emulator.

Let me apologize for any inconvenience this issue may be causing to you.

In order to help you better I would like to gather more information about the configuration you have in the computer. Please attach to this thread the .txt file the Intel® System Support Utility will generate https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility

To attach a file, you must click "Use Advanced Editor" on the upper right hand corner of the response box, then the "attach" option will appear on the bottom right hand corner of the response box.

Hello Jacky161,

Thanks for the information you sent to me.

I would like you to try older version of the graphics driver. Please download it from this link https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26772/eng/win64_154518.4664.zip https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26772/eng/win64_154518.4664.zip

As soon as the graphics driver has been downloaded on the keyboard press WinLogo key + r, then type in devmgmt.msc, double click on Display Adapters -> Intel® HD Graphics 620 -> Driver tab -> Uninstall -> Select the check box Delete the driver software for this device -> OK, restart the computer, and then reinstall the driver with the steps that are on this YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1KzoQDjMMY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1KzoQDjMMY

Description

Provide a detailed description of the issue

When using the Vulkan Backend in Dolphin, memory usage skyrockets and locks up the system rendering it unusable until the user hard resets the system by holding the power button.

EDIT: Ok something interesting happened. Now instead of a memory leak and a lockup, Dolphin just crashes now. Which is weird. I've tried the older Dolphin version that I used at the beginning but it was still crashing. Could it possibly be that my drivers weren't installed properly because I wasn't using the setup.exe before and the newer version fixed actually fixed the memory leak but Vulkan still doesn't work? BTW This happened after I did a driver reinstall normally with setup.exe

Please place an X to the right of the option showing how often you see this issue using specific steps. (Ex: 'Every few times a game is started it flickers.' <- This would be "Often")<p>

Hello Jacky161,

Thanks for the additional information you sent to me.

Please let me know if the application crashes as soon as you open it or if it crashes after you load a ROM of a game.

Does the application work fine if you do not load any ROM of a game?

Did you reinstall latest graphics driver again?

Regards,

The application crashes after I load a ROM.

Dolphin works fine if I don't load a ROM.

Yes, I reinstalled the latest graphics driver.

EDIT: Ok I've done some more testing and it seems that most games that I have crash now. But some other games still cause a memory leak. One game actually made it past the opening Nintendo logos. But then memory leaked soon after.
