I'm experiencing a problem that is also apparent on 4000 apparently, as seen http://https//communities.intel.com/message/271361# 271361 here.
I've gone over the internet with a fine comb. As stated, the game is very old, and I'm running the most recent version of it. The driver provided there obviously isn't suitable for my chipset, and I was wondering if an appropriate one was released for mine.
DxDiag, Graphics Report and System Information attached.

There is an updated graphics driver for your graphics controller: File name: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/downloads/eula/24593/Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-8-1-64-bit?httpDown=http://downloadmirror.intel.com/24593/a08/win64_153332.exe win64_153332.exe
Also, see the list of playable games for your graphics: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-033387.htm Intel® Graphics — Playable Game List for Intel® HD Graphics 2500/4000
Additionally, try adjusting graphics settings and game settings, see some tips here: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-033945.htm Graphics Drivers — Game Troubleshooting with Intel Graphics Products

I attempted to install that driver, however, it informed me that my computer was incompatible with that driver. Something to the effect of 'does not meet the minimum requirement of this software'.
Adjusting gamesettings have had no visual effect on the issue.

The driver I sent you earlier seems to be the appropriate one for your operating system version.
I would recommend downloading driver from your computer manufacturer or motherboard maker, the problem is that our drivers are generic and they may not work for customized computers.
