I would need to have support for OpenGL 3.3 to run Blender. I have updated my graphics card drivers to last version compatible with my card and does not works. Program continues saying that I need to have support for OpenGL 3.3. What to do?

Hello MRoyo2

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

After checking the information we noticed your processor is Intel® Celeron® Processor G530, this processor comes with "Intel® HD Graphics for 2nd Generation Intel® Processors".

We would like to inform you that due to the Intel® Celeron® Processor G530 and Intel® HD Graphics for 2nd Generation Intel® Processors have been discontinued, Intel Customer Service no longer supports inquiries for it, but perhaps fellow community members have the knowledge to jump in and help. You may also find the Discontinued Products website helpful to address your request. Thank you for understanding.

You can verify this product's discontinuance status at http://ark.intel.com/ > Product Status > "Discontinued".

Intel does not support the use of 2nd gen processors with Windows 10. What this means is that Intel does not provide a driver for the graphics engines embedded in these processors. Now, Microsoft does provide a compatibility driver that will allow this graphics engine to be used. As you have seen, however, this driver has less-than-stellar performance and it is older and does not support the latest versions of DirectX, OpenGL, etc. Microsoft is not actively sustaining this driver, so no upgrades are planned.

If this is a Desktop system, you could upgrade it with an add-in graphics card. Finding one that is compatible with your 9-year-old motherboard and its BIOS is difficult, however. It is reaching the point where it is more cost-effective to replace the processor and motherboard (and perhaps memory) with something a lot more modern.

If this is a Laptop system, you are completely out of luck. If you absolutely require support for Blender, you will need to replace this laptop with something a lot more modern.

Reality Bites,
