I7-2600K Intel HD Graphics (igdkmd64) Crash Win 7 x64 when using HDMI

Hi,

Getting frustrated - help please. Every time I try to use an LCD TV (using mobo HDMI-out to TV HDMI-in) it results in a BSOD with STOP 0x16—telling me that the igdkmd64 did not recover. Usually before the BSOD I get something like "Display driver igdkmd64.sys stopped responding and has recovered" several times, and them–KABOOM.

The system works fine with a VGA monitor without the HDMI attached.

This is a clean Win 7x64 (Home Premium) install on a minimal system:

ASUS P8H67 B3 (Realtec HD Audio, and Realtec Gbit Network);

i7 2600K with Intel HD3000 on processor graphics

4 Gb RAM (2x 2Gb) DDR3 1333

HD - Crucial C300 128Gb SSD AHCPI.

Supposedly (?) I have the newest HW drivers

The culprit TV's are an older Olevia 42"-1080i, and a newer 26" VIZIO 1080p. Both are HDCP compliant, and both work fine with HDMI from a DVD, A/V Receiver or cable box.

So far I have tried swapping HDMI cables, tried using a DVI-out to HDMI adapter (TVs don't have DVI ports) – same result. Tried removing one memory stick (leaving only 2Gb on a single slot) same problem. Also tried with various BIOS settings -- no help. The same things happens if I booth in Safe Mode with networking, but not in Safe Mode. So, I disabled the network drivers and devices, and rebooted normally --but didn't help, same BSOD.

Have been searching the web and forums, but nothing seems to be helping.

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

It seems all users with issues does have vbios 2080. Incompatible with newer drivers? (driver 2266 contains vbios 2086/2089)

I don't know what triggers the video bios to update but I have tried all versions of the driver I could get my hands on and only the one from ASUS does not cause the BSOD.

It's Mainboard (Bios) related.

This is pathetic how long it takes for Intel to fix it. Posted in march and still not yet fixed. I have to consider to buy a separate card because of this shit. Good luck for all the waiting people, with a bit of luck bugfix driver will be finished by next year.

Just installed on my ASUS P8H67-M EVO and it's working. No BSOD! Thanks for all the hard work.

Yep,, that was my experience with the board I purchased for the lab. I expect it will be the same for everyone.

Intalled and tested on P8H67-M EVO and did not receive the BSOD however I ran in to another problem. The new driver for whatever reason will not use 1080p 59.94 refresh rate and when windows media center tries to open and go to this resolution it goes to a black screen. Closing media center via ALT+F4 will bring back display.

When trying to set the refresh and resolution in the intel control panel to 1080p 59 it reverts to 1024 x 768 60hz no matter what I seem to do.

Since the primary purpose of this machine for me is windows media center I had to roll back to the driver provided by asus again.

I also couldn't get 1920 x 1080 @59 to work, but @60 has been working fine for the last couple of hours. The screen would go black when I switched to @59.

Sorry to say it is only "above average" at best. Yes, BSOD is gone, at least in my case. But it took me few reboots, changing the resolution around, mutliple display swaping to make it close to what I need. My plasma is 1360 x768 @60Hz and my extend display projetor is 1920 x 1080@23Hz. But no matter what I try, I can't get 1360X768 stay and I have to force to use 1920X1080 @30Hz. That is no big deal. But my biggest problem is my projector display will blue screen and then crash as soon as I changed it to 23Hz

I also have an Asus P7H67-M with an I3-2100. I tried the 2401 driver but it still does not successfully work with my HDMI output. I went back to 2219 which does work successfully with HDMI.

Robert_U that latest driver 2401 didn't take care of my issue.

I've never had the BSOD on any of the driver versions that I've tried but none of the digital out ports will work once windows comes up and thus has loaded the driver for the video ports. The HDMI and DVI ports work during the "Starting Windows" banner screen on Windows 7 but they go black once the driver is loaded. I've also tried to go back to the 2 older drivers that people have stated worked for them but they don't work either.

Here's my config:

Motherboard = Gigabyte GA-H67A-UD3H-B3 with the latest F4 BIOS installed

Monitor = 2 Viewsonic VG2030 monitors with which I started out trying one to the DVI port and the other to the HDMI port with a DVI to HDMI adaptor but now am just trying one to the VGA port (which always works no matter what driver I use) and the other to the DVI port.

Processor = Intel i7 2600

Memory = Gskill 2 x 4GB DDR3 1333

I don't see any errors for the driver in the windows event log.

If you need any further info let me know.

Also I wanted to see if any of the others out here that are running the same motherboard/cpu combo had the latest driver work for them?

What video bios version do you have with your Gigabyte GA-H67A-UD3H-B3?

I have the same Mobo (GA-H67A-UD3H-B3 with the latest F4 BIOS installed) with Video Bios 2080 and once I upgraded with this driver set, I also got a black-screen after bootup.

I had to first

  • configure as a single monitor config with DVI monitor connected,

  • reboot,

  • then connect HDMI-TV and

  • use the CNTL+ALT+F4 to toggle between DVI monitor and HDMI TV.

Once the system seemed to "Learn" my config, it was then easy to switch it back and forth, and ultimately use 2 outputs at once..

Hope that helps!

With these new driver we have one thing in itself but the same problem.

We doesn't have BSOD with igdkmd64.sys but now we have BSOD with drivers_irql_ ... Messages and freezes!

I can't read the BSOD Message, because of that SSD HDD this Msg is displayed for a few (1-2) seconds.

Hope u can help us DH67GD Users, too.

I have x86 Win7 and experiencing troubles with BSOD's and HDMI too. So I' ve downloaden the 2409 version for x86, provided by Robert_U. But I think someone made a mistake, because after restarting Windows complains that the Intel UI is not a 32 bits version.......

I really hope that someone at Intel will compile the right version. I' m in need for some positive Intel news.....

I recently bought the Asus PbH61-M m/b and i3 2100 to use as a HTPC.

Like every one else installation went well till I moved it to the Samsung LED TV and plugged it in via HDMI.

the 2342 and 2361 drivers caused BSOD and the 2418 drivers gave the overscan problem.

Everything else seems OK, although I haven't tried to many other resolutions timings as getting 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz took some work.

I am disappointed in that I thought i3/ Sandy Bridge was a stable technology and din't xpect this problem.

It also isn't easy to track down reliable info, althoug a lot of people seem to be having the problem...

I look forwards to a fully working set of drivers.
