Dear Intel team,
I’m currently using an Intel Arc A750 GPU with an ASUS TUF B760M-PLUS WIFI D4 motherboard and dual monitors setup. One monitor is connected via HDMI (used as secondary and rotated vertically), and the other via DisplayPort (used as my main screen).
However, every time I boot the system or enter BIOS, the Arc A750 always selects the HDMI-connected monitor as the primary display. This causes the BIOS and POST screen to appear rotated and on the wrong monitor, which is very inconvenient.
Windows correctly reassigns the main display after boot, but the initial output during startup is always forced to HDMI. I’ve checked my BIOS settings, updated drivers and firmware, but there seems to be no way to override this behavior.
Please consider adding an option in future firmware or drivers to manually set the preferred display output port during boot. This would greatly improve usability for multi-monitor setups.
Thank you for your support and for continuing to improve the Arc platform.
Best regards,
Bao Khanh

Hi BAOKHANH,
Thank you for posting in our Community. Your feedback regarding the Intel® Arc™ A750 prioritizing HDMI over DisplayPort during POST/BIOS is completely valid, and you've already taken excellent initial steps by updating drivers, firmware, and reviewing BIOS settings. While Windows can reassign the main display after boot, the behavior during the pre-boot phase (POST and BIOS) is typically influenced by firmware-level logic and the display detection order hardcoded into the GPU's VBIOS. At this time, the Arc A750 doesn't offer a configurable display priority setting at the firmware level.
- Do both monitors remain connected at all times, including during boot and shutdown? This helps us understand the persistent connection state.
- Have you tested switching the ports (e.g., connecting your main display via HDMI and the secondary via DisplayPort)? If so, does the behavior reverse as expected?
- Can you confirm the monitor models and refresh rates you’re using for each display?
- Which BIOS version is currently installed on your ASUS TUF B760M-PLUS WIFI D4 motherboard?
- Have you tested the same setup using only the DisplayPort monitor temporarily (unplugging HDMI) to confirm if the BIOS displays correctly?
Have a nice day!

Hi Von,
Thank you very much for the support from Intel's customer service team.
I’ve now switched the HDMI connection to my primary monitor and the DisplayPort to the secondary one, and the issue with reversed display priority no longer occurs. That’s great progress!
However, I do have a follow-up question:
Would it be possible to use both DisplayPort outputs on the Intel® Arc™ A750 without needing an HDMI connection at all?
Or is it required to have at least one monitor connected via HDMI for proper BIOS display or system behavior?
Here is my current system configuration for reference:
- GPU: Intel Arc A750
- Motherboard: ASUS TUF B760M-PLUS WIFI D4
- BIOS Version: 1820
- Monitors: AOC 24G4E (180Hz, HDMI) and LG 24BL650C-B (75Hz, DisplayPort)
- Operating System: Windows 11 Pro
- CPU: Intel Core i5-12600k
- RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200MHz
Looking forward to your clarification.
Best regards,
BAOKHANH

Hello BAOKHANH,
Thank you for your kind words and for following up with your results. I'm glad to hear that switching the HDMI and DisplayPort connections has resolved the display priority issue during boot. And yes, that is excellent progress. Hopefully, it may help other community members experiencing similar behavior. However, please be guided that the HDMI is set as the first port and is the expected behavior of the ARC card. As a workaround, a HDMI to display port adapter can be used to output the POST and BIOS messages on the display port connected monitor
Regarding your follow-up question: Yes, it is possible to use both DisplayPort outputs on the Intel® Arc™ A750 without needing an HDMI connection. The DisplayPort outputs support Adaptive Sync for smooth, tear-free gaming, making them the preferred choice for gaming setups.
Thank you again for your detailed system information and continued engagement. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have more questions or need further assistance.
Have a nice day!
