Intel Arc A770 16GB graphic update in the dark

That's weird and shouldn't be like that. However, if the connection with the adapter you are using works as expected, you don't need to change anything.

In the case of a graphics card driver update: When a new driver is installed, the driver and the DisplayPort connection to the adapter are reinitialized. Unfortunately, the protocol converter (PCON) chip built into the adapter is an unknown here, whose behavior is difficult to predict. That's why I would have suggested avoiding the adapter if possible. If you operate the TV at 8K or 4K @ 120 Hz, this probably means that the output of the graphics card (or adapter?) falls back to a lower mode and can only output the desired signals again after a restart. To avoid not being able to see anything during this time, you can force the TV to a lower signal mode before updating the graphics driver (TV's operating instructions, page 151)

  1. Disable "Input Signal Plus" on the TV's HDMI port the Arc A770 is connected to. The screen will flicker and fall back to 4K @ 60 Hz or below.
  2. Perform the driver update and restart your computer.
  3. Re-enable “Input Signal Plus” on the TV and reset the desired resolution and refresh rate (8K @ 60 Hz / 4K @ 120 Hz) on the PC.

The Samsung QE75QN800B is an 8K TV.

Please specify the manufacturer of the graphics card (e.g. Intel Limited Edition, Acer, ASRock, Sparkle ...)

Please specify the exact technical solution you use to connect the Arc A770 to the TV, preferably a link to the product.

Thank you MUC

Please specify the manufacturer of the graphics card (e.g. Intel Limited Edition, Acer, ASRock, Sparkle ...)

It should be Intel ARC A770 16GB Limited Edition

Please specify the exact technical solution you use to connect the Arc A770 to the TV, preferably a link to the product.

1) 8K hdmi Cable, 1m: Cavo HDMI 8K 2.1 48gbps HDMI ad alta velocità intrecciato Cord-4K @ 120Hz 8K @ 60Hz, DTS:X, HDCP 2.2 e 2.3, HDR 10 per Laptop/PS5 compatibile - AliExpress 44

2) 8K DP to HDMI Adapter: Adattatore Displayport a HDMI 8K DP 1.4 a adattatori HDMI maschio a femmina 8 k60hz 4 k120hz convertitore

I would add that only the last 3 updates went like this, basically from version 32.0.101.6325 dated 12/13/2024 (see image), while for the previous updates the signal reached the TV until the end of the update.

Intel Arc A770 Limited Edition graphics cards features an HDMI 2.1 port with Fixed Rate Link. You can therefore connect your 8K TV directly to the graphics card without the adapter.

Does this improve the situation?

Does the port matter or do I have to plug it into a particular port on the graphics card?

Ok I'll try when the next update arrives and I'll let you know. Thanks

The Intel Arc A770 Limited Edition only has one HDMI 2.1 port. Please connect to your 8K TV with a (certified) Ultra High Speed HDMI cable, e.g. Zeskit MAYA 3 m (10 ft)

For 8K, the cable should not be shorter than 2 meters (6.6 ft) and no longer than 3 meters.

I tried without the 8K DP To HDMI adapter, directly to the HDMI port with the 8K HDMI cable (1 m), but the TV doesn't detect any source, while with the adapter it recognizes it and everything works.

Hi, this morning there was a new update, I connected without the HDMITODP adapter directly with the HDMI cable and removed "input signal plus" and it worked! Thanks MUC

New update arrived the other day, before the update you have to reduce the resolution (from 8K to 4K) and remove "Plus input signal" on HDMI1 (where I connected the PC), and you can see the whole update process without being in the dark!
