I have a self-built system running Windows 11 Professional:
Specs:
Motherboard: MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI
CPU: Intel i7-13700K (with iGPU)
GPU: Intel Arc B580 (discrete)
Resizable BAR: Enabled
Problem:
Plugging displays into the dGPU causes severe Windows Explorer lag.
Memory usage for Explorer climbs steadily (~2.5 GB) and the system becomes unresponsive.
Displays on the iGPU work fine — no lag or memory growth.
PoolMon shows large Nonpaged Pool allocations under @K1O (linked to igdkmdn64.sys).
Troubleshooting Tried:
DDU driver removal and reinstall (twice)
BIOS: PEG adapter, IGD Multi-Monitor on/off, minimal iGPU memory
- All drivers up to date. Have tried WHQL only and most recent drivers.
How can I fix this issue? I'd like to have both iGPU and dGPU active.

Hi ryanprime,
Thank you for posting in our Community. To better assist, could you confirm the following:
- The exact driver version is currently installed for the Intel Arc GPU.
- Whether the issue occurs in both standard and clean installs of Windows
- If the behavior changes when only the dGPU is enabled (with iGPU fully disabled in BIOS).
I'd like to delve deeper and verify specifics like the graphics models, precise driver versions, and any system errors. Utilizing the Intel SSU tool will enable me to collect detailed information about your system setup, which could aid in identifying the underlying cause of this issue.
This will help narrow down whether the root cause is driver-related or a deeper hardware/compatibility issue
Have a nice day!
