I wanted to report a bug for the Intel GPU drivers for Windows 10, in this case UHD 630. The driver installation routine is totally broken and buggy since a few versions, and Intel has done nothing so far to fix it.
- updating the driver is not possible, the setup routine will just stop the setup with a bogus message of "the same driver version is already installed" which is totally WRONG.
- only way to install the driver is to a clean removal of the old driver via DDU, then cross bother fingers, that the nonsense bugged driver update mechanism of Windows 10 wont install some years old Intel driver again, and you have to remove and restart the PC 100 times for finally be able to install the new one
- rebooting the PC causes the setup routine to start over and over again after each reboot and installs the driver AGAIN, up to 3-5 times until it may or may not stop from plopping up after Windows 10 reboot
- the buggy Intel graphics command tool in the Windows 10 store is missing all settings for power on power chord (for a Dell XPS 15 9570) and randomly the automatic brightness will be triggered if you wake up from sleep or hibernate, no option to disable this, only way to fix this is reboot Windows 10
- tried out the Intel graphics beta tool and this shows some of the energy options but NOT all, also the app is buggy if you put the laptop to modern standby, this causes the dGPU to wake up and causes the fans to spin on/off/on/off. removing the Intel tool and this behavior stops!
Pc: Dell XPS 15 9570
Windows 10 2004 20h2
Latest Intel drivers 8853
The broken setup routine is now happening since the last 3-5 driver builds.
