I own an i5 - 13400 cpu based desktop equiped with an Asrock intel arc a750 gpu on a Gigabyte B760M DSH DDR4 motherboard (igpu has been disabled from the bios). The system runs windows 11 with all latest updates. Motherboard firmware and updates are the latest available also. Since I do regular updates on the intel graphics driver to ensure the best performance and combatibility with apps and games I usually install new driver updates as soon as they are released.
So upon istalling the 2 latest arc graphics driver packages (superceeding the 6460, which works perfectly) I observed a problematic behavior of the intel graphics software as explained below:
First of all the intel graphics software was not visible on the tray and hence I was not able to use it. Neither was possible to invoke it from the start menu (when invoked nothing happened).
However cheking a bit further I found out that the intel graphics software service was indeed running despite the fact its tray icon was not visible on the windows taskbar.
What I did was to try to stop the service and tehn launch it again this time from the start menu, which succeeded and I was able to use the application but checking for the tuning beta tab it was not visible in the performance menu. The only way, start the app with the performance tuning tab visible (apart from uninstalling using ddu and reinstalling from the downoaded update package again) is the following:
1) You should stop the Intel graphics software service from the task manager (services tab)
2) Invoke the Intel graphics software app from the start menu. This will start the app but with the tuning tab absent
3) close the app by pressing the x on the top right so that the app moves to the taskbar tray
4) Start again the Intel graphics software service from the task manager (from services-->start)
5) Now if you go to the tray icon and open the app, the tuning tab is visible again.
Digging further I found the pattern under which this behavior is exhibited, which I will elaborate below:
The problem appears ONLY after tweaking the fan & thermal tuning options (through the performance tuning beta tab). For example if you go to the advanced tuning options and change the fan curve to become a little bit more aggressive in order to maintain a better thermal curve on your card, the next time you reboot your machine the intel graphics software service, though it starts, it is not visible on the tray and if somehow manage to invoke it from the start menu, as discussed above, you cannot see the perfomance tuning tab. No if you follow the process above and reset the thermal curve to its default, everything works perfectly, even after rebooting. But as soon as you tweak it again the same problematic behavior is exhibited.
Strangely, the problem DOES NOT appear if you tweak with other tuning options, which are much more dangerous, in my perception, such as the gpu tuning. IT ONLY APPEARS IF YOU CHANGE THE FAN & THERMAL TUNING default behavior, which is kind of strange since this is a tuning option that do not affect the operation of the card but rather its fan, and in a beneficial way!!!
I did also performed some further checking on the issue, and here are my findings. It seems that the problem regarding the malfunctioning of the tuning beta tab is not related so much with the driver version update but rather with the update of the version of the intel graphics software per se. What I did is the following:
1) I completely uninstalled the graphics drivers and software using ddu
2) Then I installed the 6460 driver version package along with the intel graphics software that comes with it
3) Then I performed an update to the 6559 (driver only), excluding from the installation the new version of the intel graphics software that is packaged along with it. I did this through pressing the custom button and deselecting the intel graphics software checkbox from the installation process.
In this way I have the newest version of the arc a750 graphics driver along with the older version of the intel graphics software (from the 6460 package) with the beta tuning tab working perfectly.
Given the above I assume that the problematic behavior is related to the intel graphics software application only and is not related to driver itself. However you certainly know better how to hanlde this. I am looking forward for a viable solution (an update perhaps) that will fix this behavior, in order to not have to do all the above in order to run the application

Concerning this latest driver version I also had issues.
After updating to new driver 6559 Adobe Premiere does take longer to initiate and it doesn't automatically update the way is usually does after new drivers had been installed. Also, and maybe because of that, it no longer recognizes the GPU - the option is grayed out in the Project Settings.
Reverting to a previous version, like the 6458 WHQL Certified version resolves that issue.
But here's the curious thing: after installing version 6458 Intel Graphics Software appears on the task bar but is unresponsive - any time I try to open it is just simply closes itself. Also, the same behavior can be seen in task manager. The solution is to reinstall the driver again over the first installation. This behavior does not happen with the latest version 6559, with both IGS and Task Manager working normally - but then Premiere is unusable.
I guess it's just a gamble which drivers to install because some drivers fix some issues while others just mess things even more.

Hi iprigg,
Thank you for patiently waiting.
Upon checking, Intel is already aware of the issue and currently investigating.
As per the release notes from our newest Intel Graphics Drivers, Performance Tuning is still in BETA status so it might behave unexpectedly.

Hi Earl,
Just for your information the latest driver update 6632 seems to have solved the issue with the intel graphics software service not loading properly after tuning the fan.
Note though, that degradation of DX9 and DX11 performance, which I have reported to other threads (see https://community.intel.com/t5/Intel-ARC-Graphics/Performance-issues-with-new-drivers-32-0-101-6557-and-6559-for/td-p/1666180
and
) is still there in the new driver also.

Hello iprigg,
Thank you for sharing this update with me.
I'm happy to hear that installing the latest driver version: 32.0.101.6632 was able to fix the issue on "intel graphics software not loading properly".
Can you confirm if you performed Display Driver Uninstaller after downloading the latest graphics driver?
Best regards,
Earl E.

Since the problem was resolved I didn't bothered to uninstall through ddu and then install new driver from scratch

Hello iprigg,
I see, noted on that.
No worries, since the issue is now resolved on the "intel graphics software not loading properly", I will no longer monitor this thread.
Regarding to your other issue about the performance of DX9 and DX11 on the latest graphics driver update, kindly continue coordinating on the other thread because this thread will no longer be monitored.
Best regards,
Earl E.
