Intel HD Graphics 3000 update problem

Hi Guys:

About a month ago I updated my HD Graphics driver, because I noticed it was running little slower than before.

Anyways I downloaded the 9.17.10.2875 driver for the 2nd Gen Core Processors. And after I rebooted I noticed no visual change

which is normal but... After I tried one of my games, the screen goes all black but the sound is perfect (no change there).

In any other way the driver seems to work fine, I mean no crashes or anything. I should mention I am on a laptop with an NVIDIA

card with the driver up to date. But the problem started when I installed the last Intel 3000 HD driver.

I've already tried to unninstall the driver and installing it afterwards but with no luck, so can anyone give me any advice?

...Or Has someone had the same problem?

Thanks

Hi Diego,

Can you provide your dxdiag information for me please? (Start -> Run -> dxdiag -> Save All Information) Just copy and paste it here and I'll take a look at it to see what I can find.

Thanks,

-Nic

Thanks for the info Diego. It looks like Asus* has released several new BIOS updates since the one you're currently using; one which supports new CPU functions. Go ahead and give that a try and let me know if there are any improvements; http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=N53SV&p=3&s=271 ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download N53SV

Also, which driver were you previously using that had slower performance, but was functioning properly?

Thanks,

-Nic

OK first of all, thank you!!!

It worked a little bit and let me explain why: After I updated the BIOS to the 215 (mine was 214) I tested it on some of my games, some of them performed admirably but others just no change.

But it all comes to this, I figured out where the problem lies. The black screen goes only when running the discrete GPU (the Intel HD) but with the NVIDIa thera aren't any problems.

I used to have the 14.51.6.5415 version of the HD graphics driver which is the one that came with my pc and the one that got a bit slower.

I'm now using the latest driver but with poor performance on games.
