Notebook: HP ProBook 450 G0 with HDMI output
Monitor: Dell S2721DS QHD (2560x1440)
OS: Windows 10 21H2
Intel HD Graphics 4000 (driver version 10.18.10.5069)
Maximum available resolution of Intel HD Graphics 4000 via HDMI is 2048x1080.
I used Intel's "CustomModeApp.exe" to create custom resolution: 2560x1440, 32 bit, 24 Hz, which worked after restart, but symbols and small graphic elements look blurred in horisontal dimension.
I used a monitor test program which showed that horisontal pixel-width lines are sharp, but vertical pixel-width lines look interpolated - as if I used a non-native resolution on my monitor.
How can I fix this? I would appreciate your help.

Your graphics are discontinued and not supported. The best you can do is to use the latest/last driver, which can be found here:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/18606/intel-graphics-driver-for-windows-15-33.html
If that does not help, you are out of luck.

This driver can not not be installed: "The driver is not valid for this computer".
Intel's and HP's driver assistants claim that I have the most possible up to date driver.

I managed to update the driver up to the latest version 15.33.53.5161 (64bit), but this did not change anything.
It looks like the problem not with the driver, but sub settings are wrong.
