I have the Lenovo Yoga 13 w/i7, 8GB RAM, and Integrated Intel HD 4000. The Directv2pc works no problem on other systems but not this new Lenovo. Any advice on how to enable the screen capture protection? Let me know if any debugging info is desired. Thanks.

Thanks for the information everyone. I have more I would like to collect.

The majority of those experiencing this issue appear to be using laptops. Please answer the following:

1. Are you using the built-in display exclusively?

2. Can you hook up an external display, set it to primary - and see if you get the same results?

3. What external display are you using?

Right now I want to verify that all the system/displays being used are HDCP compliant (just out processor won't do it, the display also has to be HDCP compliant!).

Additionally, is there anyone having issues running this Direct2PC App on Windows 7? Or is it all Windows 8?

Thanks,

-Nic

My system is NOT a laptop.

I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.

I have an HP ZR2440 monitor hooked up via DVI port.

I don't have another display to hook up but I could hook up the same monitor via HDMI cable.

I think that the common element among all of us is the use of the integrated HD 4000 graphics engine and driver. It may just that DiretTV never updated their software to support the new Intel products.

Can you try using the HDMI? According to the user manual for your motherboard, your HDMI port is the only one that's HDCP compatible. Let me know if this works~

Thanks,

I connected my monitor to the mobo via an HDMI cable as suggested. No difference.

I also tried reducing the display color depth from 32 bits to 16 bits as someone suggested elsewhere. Again, no difference.

The DIRECTV2PC Advisor flags the display driver as non-compliant with regards to screen capture.

The DIRECTV2PC app itself successfully lists the content on the HR24 DVR, allows one to select an HD recording, plays the soundtrack correctly, but displays the green screen only. Non HD recordings on the DVR are played correctly with sound and vision.

1. Are you using the built-in display exclusively? Yes

2. Can you hook up an external display, set it to primary - and see if you get the same results? I connected to a Vizio 1080p HDTV over HDMI. It had the same problem... no change.

3. What external display are you using? Just the 1080p Vizio HDTV I tested with for you.

4. Is there anyone having issues running this Direct2PC App on Windows 7? Or is it all Windows 8? My issue is on Windows 8. I ran this same app fine on Win 7 Pro before on a Dell Studio 17 laptop which used a different video card.

5. I have also seen the same problem on the Intel HD 3000. I dont remember seeing anyone that got that version of the card to work either.

Can we answer the obvious question first please? Is the Intel HD 4000 card HDCP compatible and if yes, is there a way to enable screen capture. If the answer is no, then researching these other components is a moot point. It just seems ridiculous to me to say something supports HD content and then not include HDCP controls which any content provider would take issue with.

Yes, Intel® Core™ Processors with HD Graphics 4000/2500 (also 2nd and 1st gen) have HDCP support on HDMI, DisplayPort and DVI. However, it is an "always on/always enabled" setting that is not able to be altered. Your monitor also needs to support HDCP. That being said I'm not sure what model of Vizio* you are using, but not all of them are HDCP compliant by design.

I spoke with DirecTV* about this yesterday, and they claimed that the message you all are seeing is not one of theirs (not a message from the DirecTV2PC app), and that all of their error messages will have a re-direct to contact their customer service. This conflicts with the messages you've informed me of, as well as provided a screenshot to.

Another test if you can try it, is to plug in that external monitor (preferably via HDMI), set it as the primary (single display - not clone/extended) so that your built-in screen is turned off. Close your lid and see if you can play it with just the external on.

Rest assured, I'm still looking into this issue and will provide more information when I've got something useful.

Thanks,

-Nic

Rest assured that's precisely what I did yesterday. No love.

I am having the same issue with HP Envy 23 All-in-one Touchsmart, with Win 8, which has the Intel HD 2500 integrated video card.

Okay I need to collect some more info from everyone;

@BW: What was the exact display model you were testing with?

@tzar: Are you using an AMP or AV/R?

@amw: Have you been able to test with an external display? If so, what model?

@ka: Can you provide a copy of your dxdiag please? Also, test with an external display if you have one and let me know if there are any changes.

@Marc: Can you verify that you have tried the .2932 driver (so far I know you've tried the .2867)

@law00: Can you provide a copy of your dxdiag please? Also, test with an external display if you have one and let me know if there are any changes.

Thanks everyone!

By dxdiag do you mean the long list of specs that some have posted? Or just my specific error message?

To answer earlier post, I am on a mini-desktop, not a laptop, so primary display is an AOC monitor (yes, cheap and crummy, but HD, however, does not have HDMI input - I am using DVI.) I have a Gigabyte GA-H77N-wifi mobo and Win 8.

I'm simply getting the "DIRECTV2PC cannot display this video because your graphics card does not currently support screen capture protection for protected content. Try updating your graphics card driver or modify your driver settings." message. I can see the DVR recording list, including HD recordings, but when I select one to play, I get the message.

I find it odd that DTV claims the message doesn't come from their app. Seriously? (And I'm saying this to DTV, not to you. I appreciate you trying to figure this out.)

Yes ka, the long list is what I'm looking for. Also, can you give the exact model # of your display? Also, what connections have you tried? DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort?

Thanks,

Regarding HDCP compatible monitors, my HP ZR2440w claims to be HDCP compliant on all 3 of its inputs (Display Port, DVI and HDMI).

I tried both the DVI and HDMI connections (as I said earlier) with no improvement. I have not tried the Display Port connection since I do not own an appropriate cable.

On my system the Intel Graphics Control Panel shows only a single display selected .. the HP zr2440w.The "error" message is not from DIRECTV2PC main app but from their DIRECTV2PC ADVISOR app that tests your system for compatibility. Below is the screen capture of the "error" message. The actual app does not issue an error message for me .. it just displays a green screen when HD content is selected from DTV box.

Nic,

The monitor is AOC model F22. Here's a link: http://www.aocdisplay.com/ http://www.aocdisplay.com/

You may have to search for F22 in the product search area. There's not much information.

I'm using a DVI cable, the only digital connection it supports.

And here's the dxdiag:

I already tested the first time you asked with HDMI to Vizio as Primary with laptop display turned off and closed. No change.

Vizio M260VA: 26" Razor LED HDTV

I confirmed in the specs that it is HDCP compliant along with the HDMI ports on my laptop.

As for DirecTV saying the error msg is not coming from their app.. they are FOS. It doesnt even come in a separate window much less a separate app. It shows right over the app content in the primary window. How about you try sending them the screenshot I provided at the very beginning of this thread showing that?

I used a Toshiba Satellite X205-S7483 before I got this Toshiba Satellite P875-S7310 and have been using an external monitor to watch DirecTV2PC. The monitor is an Asus VS278 series monitor. It works with DirecTV2PC. The Intel HD Graphics 4000 "Display adapter" as it is listed in the Device Manager does not.

The X205 machine I have uses a NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT with 256MB VRAM.

The P875 machine uses the Intel HD Graphics 4000 display adapter, using the latest display driver from Toshiba (9.17.10.2843) and tested the Generic one that showed up in Windows Update (optional update) as well as the original driver that was on the machine when I got it. All drivers failed to work with DirecTV2PC on the Intel display adapter.

Both used the same HDMI cable.

Clearly it's not a "monitor" issue here, it's an Intel issue.

Would you like my X205 DxDiag information in another post for comparison?

Thanks for all the info everyone, the more the merrier. I've got some more questions for those just now joining us;

@law00: What display are you using, how is it connected, and are you going through an AV/R? Also, have you tested your OEM's latest driver as well as the Intel® latest driver?

@Mark: On the S7310, have you tested with the latest Intel® driver?

Thanks,

-Nic

Just "downgraded" to the latest Fujitsu driver, version 9.17.10.2843. Install told me that the installed driver was newer, but installed anyway. Same error.

"DIRECTV2PC cannot display this video because your graphics card does not currently support screen capture protection for protected content. Try updating your graphics card driver or modify your driver settings."

Rolling back driver to latest version because this obviously did not help.

I have tried the latest drivers and no change. My computer is an all-in-one so it is a built-in display.

@nic: Yes, I tested the latest Intel Driver that was submitted to Windows Update. When I saw the thread, I had rolled back the driver to the factory shipped version, then updated to the Toshiba released version. I can update the driver to the one from Windows Update again and retest for you with the DxDiag information for the newest driver if that is where you were heading.
