Hello, ds1111:

Please try to update your BIOS version and try installing the VGA driver from ASUS, see here for the downloads https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS-VIII-GENE/HelpDesk_Download/ MAXIMUS VIII GENE | Motherboards | ASUS Global.

Have you tried using a different cable? For the HDMI connection I would recommend using 1.4 cables, see here for an examples http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Cable-Speed-Ethernet-Support/dp/B005HH17E4 http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Cable-Speed-Ethernet-Support/dp/B005HH17E4, and for the DP connection try http://www.amazon.com/Fosmon-Certified--Plated-DisplayPort-Displayport/dp/B019770434/ref=sr_1_8?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1457014406&sr=1-8&keywords=mini+dp+to+dp+cable http://www.amazon.com/Fosmon-Certified--Plated-DisplayPort-Displayport/dp/B019770434/ref=sr_1_8?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qi

Hi Amy,

When I try to install the VGA driver from the ASUS site it says that the one installed is newer (and it is as I'm using your 4380 beta version from here).

I ordered the Fosmon DP port cable. Will report here in a couple of days.

Thanks!

There is a big chance that the ASUS driver is customized according to the features on your motherboard, so please try to install it.

Did you update your BIOS version? Have you contacted ASUS in regard to this flickering issue? If you have not contact them I would recommend doing it since it is possible that they have more feedback for your motherboard.

Hi Amy,

I'm running the latest Asus motherboard BIOS (1402 is the latest version: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/MAXIMUS-VIII-GENE/HelpDesk_Download/ MAXIMUS VIII GENE | Motherboards | ASUS USA)

I installed the ASUS VGA driver and actually they seemed worse, so I went back to the Intel 4380 beta drivers.

I haven't contacted ASUS yet.

I'm starting to be suspicious of the DisplayPort-miniDisplayPort cable that came with my LG 31MU97C-B. I will receive the new Fosmon cable today and try it out.

If that doesn't work I will contact ASUS.

Thanks again!

Hey everyone I've been having the same problems with the integrated intel hd graphics 530 in the I7-6700k as soon as windows loads its just constant screen flickering and sometimes the screen will go out and just not come back, but I've found a solution and one that hopefully intel can work around to make everything run properly but i was using xmp on my GA-z170x Gaming 7 mobo which set my memory clock to were it was supposed to be at about 3400 mhz well that was when i first set up my build and since then i was having the flickering issues I eventually came to the conclusion through one of these replies that it might be xmp so i turned it off and let the mobo run default settings which set my frequency at about 2133mhz with that i have no issues no flickering i tried manually adjusting the frequency back to were its supposed to be and same issue so I haven't run further testing to see how high my memory can go but at 2133mhz everything is stable so if intel could work out why the gpu cant handle higher memory frequency speeds that would be great because i didnt spend the extra money on high clocked memory just to have to dumb it down for an incapable graphics driver.
