Dear Intel Support Team,
I have recently purchased a new laptop, a custom built https://www.bto.eu/bto-x-book-15cl73.html# product-specs X BOOK.
The laptop is fitted with an Intel Core i7-6700HQ quad-core and a GeForce GTX 960M 2GB.
The graphics adapter is an Intel® HD Graphics 530.
The operating system is a Windows 10 Pro 64 bits.
I have a flickering screen problem that is very annoying, the screen keeps flashing on and off, even sometimes showing thin green horizontal lines and this doesn't
go away with a restart or a shutdown.
I disabled the adapter and everything worked fine.
I have the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25484/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-10-15-40- latest version of the driver for the 64 bit CPU architecture.
One thing worth mentioning, is that I didn't have the problem until I installed Visual Studio 2015 !!
I reset my operating system and everything was fine until I installed Visual Studio 2015 again.
Kindest Regards,
Ibrahim Najjar

Since Beta 4380 is still causing the problem. I want to know if the developers at Intel are working on a new beta version and when this version will be available?
I would appreciate at least a reply to this message as this is really affecting my work (productivity, headaches, etc.). I also wonder if it will damage my brand new 4k monitor LG 31MU97.
In addition, in the mean time is there something else I could try to at least reduce the flickering during the day? (I've tried running at 50Hz, 59Hz, 60Hz all seem to present the problem).
Thanks!

I am still waiting for a solid fix. I have tried everthing recomended from the Intel corporation and from the other people experencing the same issue. Nothing has worked. This problem has been and issue out of the box. I have owned this laptop for about a month now and intel has not come up with a solution. so far a huge waste of $1000. Even if they fix this problem this will be the last time i buy either dell or intel products. too many unresolved issues with little to no concern from the company.

i just installed the new driver, it is the same as before if not a little worse. Amy_Intel i am seeing alot of posts about changing the ram speed and voltage in the bios. i have also seen posts about disabling the HD530 settings in BIOS. for my laptop Dell Inspirion 7559 would any of these be a viable option and how exactly would i go about it safely?

Like others here I have this problem on as brand new HP G4 250 laptop with a i5 6200U with integrated HD520 GPU.
I've been discussing the problem in another thread i created and one user has found that disabling c-states in his DELL BIOS eliminated the flicker too. Unfortunately HP's BIOS has very few options exposed and so I cannot try this fix. I'm posting here just in case some of you do have a C-states option in your BIOS and can also fix the flickering, albeit at the expense of some power saving.
Come on Intel please get your act together, I have wasted tens of hours on this problem as I bought the laptop for a local swimming club who need it to run their accounts and meets. I thought I was doing them a good turn but its turned into a disaster as I'm spending more time on the flickering than my MBA dissertation which is due in 6 weeks!!!

Hello, All:
Thank you very much for taking the time to communicate this issue. I understand the frustration that this issue could have caused, and I want to let you know that Intel is still working on fixing this issue.
In the meantime, there are several steps that you could follow in order to address these issues;
- Several customers were able to fix this issue already. You can check a summary of all workarounds in post # 85 of this thread /message/379088# 379088 https://communities.intel.com/message/379088# 379088
- Contact your computer manufacturer, especially if you have a brand new computer. This is because they may already be aware of the situation and could give you specific troubleshooting assistance, including, but not limited to:
- Recommending a BIOS update.
- Reset BIOS to default settings, or suggesting particular configuration settings.
- Providing you with a customized graphics driver.
- Try installing the latest driver version for your graphics controller from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/ Drivers & Software.**
- If installing our Intel® HD Graphics driver does not work, uninstall it and install it one more time, see here for the instructions http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005598.html Uninstalling the Intel® Graphics Driver and Intel® Display HDMI/Audio....
- Run the Windows Updates.
- Make sure that you have the appropriate refresh rate for your monitor/TV.
- If possible, try testing a different cables and a monitor/TV.
- If your computer supports switchable graphics, bear in mind that Intel's generic graphics drivers from the Intel Web site do not work on some computers that support Switchable Graphics. It depends on your computer's hardware configuration. If you encounter problems using the generic driver, Intel recommends reinstalling the latest validated driver from your computer manufacturer for your system.
**If you are trying to install our drivers and you encountered an error, please refer to http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005469.html Error Message: Computer Manufacturer Graphics Driver Detected and try to install the driver manually, see here for the instructions http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005474.html How to Manually Install a Graphics Driver in Windows 7*. If the manual installation does not work, please try installing the driver following the steps attached.
Lastly, in order isolate the majority of these flickering issues I will branch to a new discussion those posts that provided the most details and proceed to lock the main thread.
If you are experiencing flickering issues on Intel® HD Graphics 530, please fill out the following form /thread/77761 Default level information for reporting Graphics issues and create a new post.
Regards,

I'm having the same problem. Brand new Alienware 17 R3. Only happens when I unplug my charger. Been trying to correct this problem for about a week with different drivers at no success. Only way I can make it stop is disable the Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 under device manager. Should I contact Dell for an exchange, return, or repair or should this be fixed with a driver update? Really trying not to get stuck with a $2300.00 lemon. Thanks for any guidance.

Actually I think I fixed it. What I did was go to the desktop, right click, then select graphics properties. Select the power option, then on the left panel select option on Battery. Then I disabled Panel Self Refresh, Extended Battery, and Display Power Savings Tech. Probably the self refresh is what fixed it for me, but i'm not messing with it since it hasn't blinked at me in like 30 minutes. Maybe this will help someone else.

In my case, I am using MobaXterm on an HP ProBook.
Very bad flickering in VNC windows on ProBook built-in panel or external Samsung 1920x1080 screen.
However, when I changed to "Max Performance" in Graphics Properties / Power and also reduced colour depth to 16 bit, the flickering has disappeared.
I realise this won't be a fix for everyone, however, I don't require max colour depth so, for now, at least I can work without a migraine!

Hi guys/gals,
I am having a flickering issue with one of my monitors. This happens when I am on AC power.
By the looks of it, my monitor that connects via usb-c keeps losing connection, and reconnects. This is not cable related, nor monitor related. The monitor works excellent with every other laptop I tested with.

Description
Provide a detailed description of the issue
I have two external monitors. One is 1080p (connected via HDMI) and another 1440p (connected via usb-c to mini-DP to DP).
Whenever I am plugged into the AC, I get flickering on my 1440p monitor. This doesn't happen with other laptops, or when I am on the battery with the current laptop.
The flickering is followed by a black screen, just like when you unplug and re-plug the monitor. When if gets really bad, all 3 screens start flickering and going black. This is a similar behavior to when one of the monitors gets unplugged.
I have tried every possible option under the sun. Updated drivers, rolled back on them, updated windows. played with power and performance settings. Changed AC sources. Nothing seems to help.
Does it fail every single time, or only sometimes?
If you can offer a % rate please do.

I found the problem to my flickering external monitors.
It is called the ground loop effect. My Asus Zenbook Pro UX501VW DS71T suffers from it (2 out of 3 laptops tried have the problem).
All there is to do is to remove the grounding on the power plug. In Canada there's a 3rd prong that needs to be removed.
You might try it to see if it fixes your flickering issues.

Removing the grounding is not for the faint of heart.

Hi Stefan3D,
Thanks for the link. I will check it out.
An isolation transformer sounds like like a big attachment to a laptop .
However, I'll read on it and maybe it will help with other interference we have at the office.
I am returning the laptop (the second one), in hopes that I get one that is working. My colleague has one that works ok, so there's hope.
