Intel HD Graphics 530 driver crashing

Hello,

I got a new Asus Windows 10 64-bit laptop that has both Intel HD graphics 530 and nVidia GeForce GTX 960m dedicated graphics. When browsing the web, especially while using Google Images, my computer freezes up for a second, unfreezes, and I get a notifcation saying the Intel HD graphics driver crashed and recovered itself. This happens multiple times per day and there are no driver updates yet from the Asus website as this is a new model of laptop.

I've also had a couple of blue screens due to "VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR" that I believe is related, as it freezes up while browsing the web much like the driver crashes, but then it goes to a black screen for a couple of seconds and then the blue screen.

Another hardware is Intel based, but using different Graphic Adapter. I have tested it with HP, DELL, TOSHIBA

By the way, the error that I described is happening in windows 10 also, and i still believe is a driver software problem, if you read all the forum thread I posted you will see why I say is a driver problem.

If the coders that Intel have now are not able to fix the problem, then Intel needs new driver software engineers or they are in big troubles, because the biggest HD 580 brother needs to be able to handle any game, and it seems that Fallout 4 with the latest patch and maybe other games are totally screwed on Intel igpu's.

Ok, ty for the reply. I think intel should start split the driver because they optimized it for all igpus and it seems is not compatible with the latest igpu.

You need to do a bios update. It seems that there are some compatibility issues fixed in that bios : https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B150M-BAZOOKA.html# down-bios Support For B150M BAZOOKA | MSI Global | Motherboard - The world leader in motherboard design

Hi TT29

Now get the last beta driver 4444

I'm happy to see that at least some bugs are getting fixed. I hope that they won't make others like in an earlier driver

Im having the same issues as described in OP , using a ASUS X550J laptop with intel 4600 series. Im unabel to install the new drivers manually since my computer claims that it dosent meet the set requierments. Currently running driver version 10.18.15.4256. Is that the newest for my computer?

Well tried 4380 and 4404 drivers and get similar problems, black screen for a few seconds then monitor comes back on(no message with the crash), but I am unable to get system going again, wireless keyboard and mouse do not work, I have even tried a wired keyboard but this makes no difference.

I can only use the power button to take the system down, then turn it back on again to boot.

The only good news is that the stutter seems to be fixed.

A few notes in case they are relevant, I have updated the Motherboard Bios to 3.20, crashes usually happen when using firefox for browsing, I have over 50 tabs open, there can be upto a couple of hours browsing before a crash, I am usually running dvbviewer in a quarter screen window at the same time.

Whoops, I replied to the wrong post, should really have replied to Amy.

Hello. I have similar problém. My Intel HD graphic driver is crashing approximatelly 1 times a minute. Not always, just in cse using some graphic application. I thought it is a software problém, but I dont have this trouble with other hardware. I tried new beta drivers and also older drivers as well, but the result was same. I tried to install default Microsoft driver and the problem was gone, but in such case I can not use my HDMI port. In such case I am sure, it is just driver problém. Please help. I tried practically everything - reinstalling drivers, install pure Windows installation, nothing helped.

I forgot to inform. I am using Windows 10 64 bit, Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU, Intel HD Graphic 530

Regards

Tomas

It seems that I am talking to the walls.

When I am browsing on facebook, and scrolling down thru people posts, I get this error.

Problem signature:

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

Application Name: IEXPLORE.EXE

Although it is APPCRASH IEXPLORE.EXE, microsoft has nothing to fix as this error happened as result of a fault in video driver.

Other graphic driver from another company had the same problem detailed information are here: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-7-windows-vista/18327-stackhash-appcrash-issue-windows-7-sp1.html [SOLVED] Stackhash APPCRASH issue, Windows 7 SP1

The problem I have is the same as described on that post in the forum I posted the link, so is clearly a driver problem, all it remains is that someone from Intel reacts and do something about this, because many of the driver problems are linked to this and I think it affects all igpus.

In February I purchased my first update in years. I got a mid-line set up. I thought with Win 10, 16GB RAM, Core i7 on a Dell laptop I would be all set. I never figure Intel would let us down so badly.

I have this issue, and it is CONSTANT! Every time I navigate in my browser, the display locks up. When it "recovers" it still doesn't function properly. This is clearly and Intel problem. If it drivers cannot fix the problem then the chip should be replaced. I did not spend good money on an upgrade to suffer with the problem.

Dear All,

Just to have another on this..

Updated to the latest beta driver (.4404) but I am still facing the issue 'display driver stopped responding and has recovered' intermittently, just like in the past few months. I've applied the fix suggested by microsoft: adjusting the Timeout Detection and Recovery registry value. This resulted the same symptom: the display goes black for 1-2 seconds then comes back like nothing happened, but without the "display driver...etc." message popping up.

I believe it means, that the iGPU is really taking more time than permitted to display graphics = still buggy driver or hardware issue as many of us.

However, the problem comes intermittently, I believe it has something to do with apps using hardware acceleration (chrome, spotify, etc..), but these apps were updated as well many times in the pasts few months. This is why I believe is a common hardware issue.

What I've tried:

-complete windows reinstall

-tried the last 3 drivers (including betas)

-last 3 motherboard BIOS, now I have the latest (0704 on an ASUS Z170M-PLUS)

-changed slots of the RAM modules

-did a few cycles of MemTest without failures

Configuration:

CPU - Intel i7 Skylake 6700

iGpu - HD530

MOBO - ASUS Z170M-PLUS

RAM - 2x8 Gybte HyperX DDR4 2133Mhz

Windows 10 Pro 64bit

Nothing overclocked, all run on factory values.

Would be nice to see a real solution, or have an announcement from Intel that CPUs having HW issues on graphics side..

Hi,

You have in bios in Advanced tab an option IOAPIC 24-119 Entries.

If is Enabled put it on Disabled. It seems that this option creates some problems on Windows 10.

It maybe problem with mainboard and igpu also.

On windows 8.1 I don't have the problem you have anymore, but I have 16GB 3200 memory.

Dear Intel,

Welcome to plug & play era !

Just joining the cohort of people having issues with Intel HD graphics 530, using an all-in-one MSI 27 6QE.

Intel graphics HD 530 keeps crashing while using Photoshop, after 2 seconds of blackness, a nice notification indicates that the Intel HD Graphics Drivers for Windows were unresponsive.

This issue has been known and documented for over 5 months now.

Being an "end-user" I would appreciate not to be considered as "beta testing material".

Thanks for "sharing" frustrations and everything ...

Hi,

In a way you are right, but I think is more MSI's fault releasing a laptop not tested ... They are more responsible then Intel, don't you think ?

Hi

I don't know if it is up to us to find a "culprit", to be honest I don't really care, but I sure as hell know that MSI doesn't write Intel drivers. Backtracking this thread does also indicates MSI desktops are not the only one having these symptoms, but also Asus or Dell to name a few.

For all intent and purposes, MSI customer support policy's mostly consists on reinstalling PC's to their default factory settings, it seems to be some sort of an universal cure that can solve everything.

And if you reinstall everything to their factory settings the laptop works, all your applications work as they should ?

Or they tested laptop to work without any application just to look at it.

No

Reinstalling does not fix Intel HD Graphics driver issue (at least for me it didn't).

One difference worth mentioning is that under vanilla Windows 10 x64 OEM version (no updates) I had freezes then BSODs.

After Microsoft updates, crashes downgraded to freezing, black screens for 2 secs and then Driver failure notifications. (so...it is an improvement)

3 latest versions of the Intel Graphic drivers (beta included) have been tested without bringing any symptoms improvements .

For me it looks like it didn't work in the first place ... It can be a hardware problem, and it's not Intel who gave you warranty. The drivers which Intel creates are general drivers that works only on systems that have not customized video adapters. Laptops have customized video adapters and for them to work together they need customized drivers. On a desktop system for example, I can enable/disable Intel video adapter, and modify some other settings, and on some laptops I can not even disable it.

I don't say that Intel's drivers are ok, but when some laptop manufacturer designs a laptop and builds it, it should be sure that when it release it, it works. And your laptop it doesn't work correctly.

Hi Ronin

Thank you for your input but it seems you are starting from the wrong assumption: I am having these issues on a desktop, not a laptop.

It is something I specified earlier in this thread, and I don't understand why you keep thinking I am having a laptop-related issue.

Having exactly the same symptoms than many user experience relayed on this thread, I sincerely fail to grasp how somehow, according to you, I would experience an entirely different problem.
