I purchased the following Toshiba laptop at Best Buy last week:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Toshiba+-+Satellite+Laptop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B+i3+Processor+/+16%22+Display+/+4GB+Memory+/+500GB+Hard+Drive+-+Slate/9988697.p?id=1218205766312&skuId=9988697 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Toshiba+-+Satellite+Laptop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B+i3+Processor+/+16%22+Display+/+4GB+Memory+/+500GB+Hard+Drive+-+Slate/9988697.p?id=1218205766312&skuId=9988697
This is the listing for the graphics card:
- Intel® HD graphics
My issue is with two games: Zoo Tycoon 2 and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. Both games only operate in a 4:3 aspect ratio instead of the 16:9 aspect ratio. Both the desktop and in game resolutions are set to 1366x768 for Zoo Tycoon and a comparable 16:9 aspect ratio for Roller Coaster Tycoon. However in the games there are black bars on the left and right of the screen due to it displaying in 4:3 mode.
Is there a way to fix this? Additionally, when opening Zoo Tycoon 2, I receive a warning that the color scheme has been changed to Basic, and that "Protection Stub" has stopped working. Any suggestions on this? I've tried running them in various compatibility modes as well (XP Service Pack 2 and Vista Service Pack 2).

Try this: download the latest drivers. Go http://www.intel.com/support/detect.htm http://www.intel.com/support/detect.htm then click "check your system for latest updates". Download the latest graphics driver if available.
After that go to start > search for Control Panel > click Control Panel > in the top right corner of the window select > Small Icons (or Large, whichever you prefer) > find Intel GMA for Mobile > click it > click Display > General Settings > click the drop down for Scaling > select Scale to Fullscreen.
This will cause the image to be stretched from corner to corner and may look strange, but if you want it then that's how you do it.

redmonke,
Thanks for the tip. This is the information about my Graphics driver on intel's site:
Product Detectedhttp://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/highlights/graphics/hdgraphics Intel® HD GraphicsCurrent Driver Installed8.15.0010.2119A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel Driver Update Utility is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues. Contact your http://www.intel.com/support/oems.htm computer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer. It's a Toshiba Satellite A665. I'm not sure if I uninstall the current drive and install the one straight from Intel if that will cause other problems. As for your Graphics and Media settings, I was already configured the way that you described.

Hey RSoxNO1, try the method I posted from the other thread: http://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/showthread.php?t=71710&o=d&s=lr http://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/showthread.php?t=71710&o=d&s=lr
Post # 4 details what you should do to install the newer drivers. It may or may not work.
BTW, the driver link doesn't work. Try here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Laptop+graphics+controllers&ProductProduct=Intel%c2%ae+HD+Graphics http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Laptop+graphics+controllers&ProductProduct=Intel%c2%ae+HD+Graphics
