Intel Iris Xe Graphics Driver Update Problems

Good afternoon, I'm having some problems updating the Intel drivers for my graphics card, some time ago I discovered that the generic Intel drivers for my notebook (MSI GL76 Pulse) are not good. Updating from the Intel app, the computer screen starts to flicker, forcing me to use obsolete drivers. The Nvidia drivers for my RTX 3060 are constantly updated and I don't understand what the problem is.

During daily use, so not only with graphics programs (Adobe Suite that I use frequently) the computer starts to have real glitches on the screen, but not only that, it suffers real slowdowns, lack of fluidity in opening some apps like the Nvidia one. I attach some screenshots of the problems I'm talking about.

I hope there is a solution to all this, I wouldn't like to have to change my computer because of conflicts between drivers, unsolvable, or the inactivity of the Intel graphics card due to updates that I can't do, thanks in advance.

So the Intel support engineers can have more information about your system, Please download and run the Intel System Support Utility (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows- ) for Windows. Select all data categories and then have it generate a report. Next, have the tool Save the report to a text file (don't try to use the Submit capability; it doesn't work). Finally, using the Drag and drop here or browse files to attach dialog below the edit box for the body of your response post, upload and attach this file to the response post.

Kindly take into consideration that our support may be limited since we are not familiar with the technology, settings and customizations that the OEM has designed on your system, However I will do my best to assist you with your concern.

 

To assist you properly, please share the information below.

 

1. Was this working fine before?

2. Have you tried the drivers from the OEM?

3. Kindly share the link where you downloaded the driver.

I apologize for not replying again, I thought I had sent the message, but that wasn't the case, I'll rewrite what I said:

During updates I always had problems (computer flickering). The first update I tried to do and that gave me problems dates back to January of this year, before then I had never done updates and I had noticed slight slowdown problems, so I did the update but what I told you happened.

I tried to update them again but always encountered the same problem. I tried to update the drivers from this link:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html and despite everything it said that I had to continue updating them, so I went to the Intel app and the flickering came back.

I was suggested to go to this MSI site: https://www.msi.com/Laptop/Pulse-GL76-12UX/support?sub_product=Pulse-GL76-12UEK, not knowing what I had to download I asked for confirmation and was told to go here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/785597/intel-arc-iris-xe-graphics-windows.html

At this point I was then suggested to do a computer restore or a complete reinstallation, or to try to install the graphics drivers directly from device manager, overwriting the driver in use.

The update of driver may be the cause as it was not updated properly. I think it best if you could conduct a clean installation. You can either use the driver from your laptop website or in the intel website. Either way it is fine, then follow these steps on this link https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000057389/graphics.html

 

Just make sure that your internet is disconnected intor your laptop so that it won't automatically install back once you manually uninstall it

I followed all the steps and the flickering still occurred, now I'm trying with the DDU as the guide reports.

Update:
It has now finished rebooting and the flickering is still present, but not in safe mode, so I'm assuming the Intel drivers are the problem(?).

What I notice is strange is that when I open the Intel Graphics Software screen, the flickering is not present, but if I close the window, it starts to flicker. What can I do? The drivers on the MSI website in the Graphics section are from 2022, aren't they a bit out of date if I wanted to try those too? I look forward to hearing from you.

Could you try disabling the integrated GPU to test if the issue will still occur even if your laptop is using the dedicated GPU which is the Nvidia

If I disable Intel the flickering disappears, obviously the computer is more jerky but it does not flicker, so the problem is the integrated

That isolates it, try using the driver from msi just for testing if the issue will went away I guess the issue will be the compatibility of the latest driver from intel and your laptop.

If I am not wrong, oem laptops have customize or changed their driver to better suited on their system requirements and specification

I installed the drivers from the MSI website, it is an older version (2022-12-12 is the latest release found on the website for my PC) but at least the flickering is not present, the problems related to fluidity unfortunately persist

I'm speaking in general, about how the PC is slowed down in the opening and closing animations of any windows, whether it's Google or the apps on the PC, it's as if everything is heavier, I don't know if I make myself clear.

I think I know now. It seems that you need to clean your laptop. I mean dust it off. Go to your nearest computer store and have it clean.

Definitely, though I try to keep it clean. Although my concern is more about the driver issues I'm experiencing, I hope they can be resolved one way or another.

I think doing a deep clean on the laptop will really helps. Sometimes those issues are occuring because the system is quite dusty in the inside. You can ask them as well to update your driver to the latest version and test it out. Then you can ask their advice about what to do about it since it is an MSI laptop after all.
