Iris XE graphics issues with Halo infinite are still not fixed (2025)

I have an Acer Aspire A515-56G laptop with an i5-1135G7 processor with Iris Xe graphics and 16GB of RAM. Currently, I am using the OEM graphics driver version 30.0.101.1404, and everything is working fine including the Halo Infinite on the lowest settings. However, I want to upgrade to the newest driver from Intel because my current driver is from 2022, and some of my programs are indicating that the driver is outdated.

Already I have tried updating to newer drivers whenever they are released, but none of them (including the most recent versions 32.0.101.6559 and 32.0.101.6647) have resolved the issues I am experiencing with Halo Infinite and Halo: Master Chief Collection (MCC). As I remember there was only one update that addressed the Halo MCC, but later updates have reintroduced the same issues.

I've gathered information from various sources(even from here) regarding these errors and listed them below, as I am not the only one facing these problems with Iris Xe graphics. It’s frustrating to see this issue persist for so long. If anyone has found a workaround with the newest updates, please share. Otherwise, I hope Intel takes notice and fixes this.

Hi rcwalker117,

Thank you for posting in the community and for sharing the additional links. I've reviewed the post regarding the Halo issue on Intel Iris Xe, but I want to ensure all information is accurate.

First, let me provide some context about Intel Iris Xe. As you may know, this integrated GPU shares its memory with the system RAM, which can lead to limitations when playing games that often require a dedicated GPU. Dedicated GPUs have their own VRAM, eliminating the need to share memory with the system RAM.

I'm curious about a few details. Based on the model you provided, can you confirm if these are your laptop's specifications: Acer Aspire 5 Intel? If so, does your laptop have the same Nvidia GPU as listed in the system?

Additionally, to gain a better understanding of your entire system, please use the System Support Utility (SSU) to generate a text file compiling all your system information. You can follow the instructions at this link and send the text file here: How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows

Thank you for your response! I understand that integrated graphics may not be ideal for running a game like Halo Infinite, but I want to highlight that the game is indeed playable on the Iris Xe graphics when using this specific OEM driver. I've tested this firsthand, and with the right configuration, the performance is stable. There are no glitches, tearing, crashes, or game artifacts.

Regarding your question, my laptop model is indeed the Acer Aspire 5 A515-56G. But I am running Halo Infinite specifically on the Iris Xe graphics instead of the Nvidia gpu because the Nvidia gpu only has 2GB of memory, which is not sufficient to run the game. From my experience, Halo Infinite requires at least 3GB of memory to run even at the lowest settings in 1080p. Even with these limitations, the OEM driver I’m using still handles the game significantly better than Intel's official drivers, as shown in the screenshots below. Additionally, I have also included the system information you requested.

Would Intel be willing to investigate the optimizations included in the OEM drivers I provided that allow the game to run more effectively? If those improvements could be integrated into future official drivers, it would greatly enhance the experience for users like me waiting to play games like this, even on lower performance PCs.

OS - Windows 10 Home Single Langauage
Version - 10.0.19045

GPU 0 - Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics
               GPU memory - 7.9GB

Note - Iris Xe on dual channel and UHD on single channel.
