Hi

Just reinstalled windows 10 Pro x64 and when I install the Intel HD 520 drivers my screen starts showing some random weird lines...

I did try to uninstall drivers, reinstall them, going on safe mode and try different solutions I read online even install the previous drivers and beta but nothing seems to work Even update the bios but no joy...

At the moment I have disable the display adapter on the device manager and that´s the only way I get to stop the flickering...

Can anyone give me any sugestions please? Thanks in advance.

Hello Semogair,

I understand screen flickers if the graphics driver gets installed.

Let me apologize for any inconvenience this issue may be causing to you.

I would like you to try updating some of the computer drivers in a specific order.

Please install this driver first, and then restart the computer http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/cr/en/products/TABLETS/MIIX-SERIES/MIIX-510-12-ISK/80U1/downloads/DS119079 http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/cr/en/products/TABLETS/MIIX-SERIES/MIIX-510-12-ISK/80U1/downloads/DS119079

Install this other driver, and then restart the computer one more time http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/cr/en/products/TABLETS/MIIX-SERIES/MIIX-510-12-ISK/80U1/downloads/DS119082 http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/cr/en/products/TABLETS/MIIX-SERIES/MIIX-510-12-ISK/80U1/downloads/DS119082

Download this graphics driver https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26772/eng/win64_154518.4664.zip https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26772/eng/win64_154518.4664.zip

Install the graphics driver with the steps that are on this YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1KzoQDjMMY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1KzoQDjMMY

Let me know if issue persists or not.

Hello Semogair,

I am sorry to hear you are still having issues with your computer.

I would like you to try running the following utility which is to check if the problem is related or not to the graphics controller https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool

If possible check if issue happens or not when an external display is connected.

Did you reinstall the operating system with the Dell* Recovery Media?

Hello Semogair,

Thanks for the additional information you sent to me.

What did you reinstall the operating system for? Were you having a specific issue with the computer?

Did the flickering issue start right after you reinstalled the operating system?

Hi Fred.

The only reason I did a fresh installation from OS was because I wanted to get rid of all the bloatware from Lenovo and I thought it would be the best thing to do (not).

When I install Windows there is no problem whatsoever with the screen. The flickering start straight away as I install the Intel Drivers and the comp. restarts.

If I go on the Device Manager and disable the display adapter Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 and restart and the is ok.

I don´t get it why this is happening...

Thank you for your help. I´m looking foward to hear from you and see if there is any way to sort this issue.

Thanks

Hello Semogair,

We recently released newer version of the graphics driver, and I would like you to give it a try. You can download it from this link https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26836/eng/win64_154519.4678.zip https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26836/eng/win64_154519.4678.zip

Please uninstall current graphics driver first. In order for you to uninstall it on the keyboard press WinLogo key + r, then type in devmgmt.msc, double click on Display Adapters -> Intel HD Graphics 520 -> Driver tab -> Uninstall -> Select the check box Delete the driver software for this device -> OK, restart the computer, and then reinstall the driver using the steps from the same YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1KzoQDjMMY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1KzoQDjMMY

Hi Fred

Just installed those drivers and still get the same flickering on screen...

Just bought a usb-c adapter to HDMI and connect to the TV.

Screen keep flickering and no issues whatsoever on TV. What does that mean...????

Is my display damaged? Or is it still a driver issue?

Semogair

Hello Semogair,

Thanks for the additional details you are sharing with us.

If possible try reinstalling the operating system using the Lenovo* Recovery Media which is to discard an issue with the operating system image you used during installation. If issue happens even after reinstalling Lenovo* Recovery Media then the issue might be hardware related.

You can try reinstalling the operating system from the recovery partition. This link will show you how https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht077384 https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht077384

If the recovery partition is no longer in the hard drive please try using the Lenovo* Recovery Media https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht035659 https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht035659

Hi Fred

First of all thanks for the support and the help.

I had tried before to use Lenovo Recovery Media but with no joy. Only yesterday I had a Lenovo mail:

"

Greetings Lenovo Customer,

Our records indicate you have recently performed or in the process of performing a digital download of the recovery media using our Digital Download Recovery Service (DDRS). We regret to inform that some of the modules in your download process may have been corrupted and hence even though the download process and subsequent creation of the USB Key may work on your side, we think that that there is a chance that the recovery operation might fail. We apologize for this inconvenience and request you to take the following action to correct this situation.

Please note that all the corrupted files has been fixed in our cloud infrastructure and hence by performing the below action will ensure that the download and recovery operation will succeed appropriately.

- Go to the location in your hard drive where you have downloaded the files and delete any files with .RMF and .PRG extension. It is not required to delete any other file/s.

- Launch the USB Creator Tool and log into this tool using the same Lenovo ID you used to create the order.

- Restart the download process. Our tool will recognize only the missing files i.e the files with .RMF and .PRG extension and will re-download these files. Then the tool will use these files to identify the files that are corrupted and will also re-download any corrupted files required to fix the issue of corrupted files in your hard drive.

- Using the USB Creator tool recreate the recovery key.

- Use this key to recover your system"

So I follow all the steps and reinstall with Lenovo Recover Tool and everything is working fine, FINALLY!!!!

Thanks for all the help and I´ll attach a file with the current Intel HD 520 drivers and the screen it´s not flickering anymore.

So I guess Lenovo as some sort of custom compatible drivers of their own.

Thank you for the help

Semogair
