Low resolution (640x480) problem in Linux while using Intel HD Graphics 4600

I am using linux mint 17.1 64-bit in my desktop having Intel HD Graphics 4600 and the maximum resolution is 640x480 (this is the maximum resolution that I can choose from display option). I have also tried latest ubuntu, fedora and opensuse distribution. In call cases, available resolution is less than the expected one (1280x1024). Here is my http://www.cowboom.com/product/752259 monitor model. Windows 7 works perfectly. Is this a known issue?

I think the problem is not related with OS. Is there any problem with the monitor or graphics?

Try using a straight connection if possible. This means no adapter cables or converters.

I am using a single cable from casing to monitor. There is no adapter or converter.
